Should consumption of oats be avoided for a person having gout?
Answer:
It is not that a person with gout can't eat them, it is that the person must seriously limit the consumption of them. Oats are moderately high in purine so can aggravate gout or bring on an attack if too much is eaten. For a list of foods to avoid or limit, please go here:

Shot that makes you grow taller?
I remember hearing about a shot that makes you grow taller, approximately 3 inches depending on the person. I am curious if anyone has ever taken it before... does it actually work?
Answer:
Perhaps it is a growth hormone.
Wow, sounds like a gimmic, but if it exsists I want to know!

Shortness of breath?
I have had shortness of breath since i was in middle school and i have now been out of high school for about 7 years now. I have been tested for asthma and was told i do not have it. I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse which makes my heart race. But i have been taking deep breaths every few minutes since this started in middle school. It has become a part of my life and most of the time doesn't bother me. I'm just curious if anyone may have any idea why it does this? Like i said i do have mitral valve prolapse, i am 24, i weigh around 100 lbs, very thin. Any help would be great!
Answer:
Of course your doctor will advise you and you can get literature from the library about this and what types of activities are good for you, your heart does not function properly. Follow your doctors advice.
maybe your body just needs more energy..it could be because your body is weak and you cant do things for a long time because of this...when was that last time you went to the doctor...you may need to take vitamins
did you ask your doctor if it was your heart problems giving you this breathing problem?i know anemia ( low iron can cause shallow rappid breathing..tiredness and dizziness..as can anxiety.hope this helps

Short Asian =\?
yup so i'm 5 feet 4 inches and one of the shortest people in ninth grade. any tips on how i'm supposed to get taller?
Answer:
I think you will still grow an inch since youre not even 21 yet. I was told that a woman's height will be permanently stable by the time she reached her 20. It is a fact that most asian women, if not all, are meant to be short. Unless one of your parents is tall and theres a possibility that you might be one of them. And I was also told that if you want to get taller, all you have to do is try to sleep in the afternoon... or drink milk,..and perhaps try to jump high at the exact time on New Year's eve. Well, I'm not really sure if that is true, but you have nothing to lose if you try it.
5'4 is fine at your age, and you seems taller to me. I'm 5'2 in my mid 20s :(
asians are suppose 2 be short...ive never seen a tall one...my asian friend is only 5'1.so ur even taller
Sorry, hun. There is nothing that you can do to make yourself taller.
Plus, you aren't even short for an asian. Most asians are shorter than you. So be thankful!
Sorry hun, it's all genetics. Just think, you don't have to duck your head to walk through a door, you rock at the limbo, you always have a good excuse "It's not my fault I'm short..."
no
ask yao ming lol
I always liked Asian women, they're short and cute
Nope you may grow an inch or so if your lucky. We Asians are genetically small. Be happy with 5'4" as an Asian you have 4" on me and I am in my 30's.
DONT be like that.serioudsly its great being short.im asian too (filipino to be exact) and im 5麓4.5 and being tall isnt that great. im in eight grade right now and im taller than most kids (wich is odd since im asian) and im really tall compared to my family. i dont wanna grow any taller either tho, cuz i mean its not fun. im just half an inch from you and i dotn no wut kinda school your going to cuz im considered tall. what evs UR A GREAT HEIGHT! anyways if your really that upset drink alota milk, stretch, do rythmic gymnastics, and take alota omega 3(found in fish).
well, generally girls will stop growing at 18years, and boys, even as late as 24 years. So for girls, before 18 medical studies have shown that sufficient sleep will contribute to your height. (i.e growing taller!) eat a balance diet and try sports that need 'jumping' such as basketball, skip rope, etc.
Results don't happen overnight, or if in all case fails, pick the right clothes for your body. Their the easiest and quickest way to make you seem taller. :)

Shoe sizing problem?
ok so i went to the mall with my mom..and it is about 2 months before school starts for me (9th grade) (im 14 years old) well In a K-Swiss shoe i ware a size 11, but in a Nike shoe I ware a size 9.5 and thats when my big toe is about 1cm from the end of the shoe...why is there such a difference between sizes in different brands..well anyway I bought the nike shoes in a size 9.5...and my toe is about 1 cm away form the end of the shoe..well these shoes are for the school year..so im saving them for 2 months..well when i got home my dad was mad at me cause he said my feet are going to grow by the time school starts and my shoes will be to small to ware and i spent $65.00 for nothing...do you think my feet will grow that much in 2 months...my feet are already big ( 10 1/2 inches) so will they grow that much before school starts...is my dad rite about this?? should i exchange them at the store for a 10 size (.5 bigger) ?
help
Answer:
I suggest holding onto the receipt and not wearing them until the school year starts. Then if they are too small you can always return them, if not then you just saved yourself a lot of trouble.
You certainly will grow, but at 14 (as a girl) you've started to slow down and your feet are nearing the size you will wear into adulthood. Boys at 14 are still in the throes of growth spurts, but girls are slowing down. It might be that your dad is thinking along those lines.
First answer is right, though - keep the receipt and return them if they're too small.

Shoe inserts for heel pain?
My heels begin to hurt really bad when I've been standing/walking for a long time. I walk military style(old habit) meaning I roll my feet, heel to toe. So my heels tak a lot of my weight.
What are some good inserts for my boots? No Dr.Scholl's massaging gel please, I used them already, they were a joke to my feet.
Answer:
This sounds a lot like plantar fasciitis. It can be caused by many things; one of the names I've seen for it has something to do with the ways soldiers march. That is probably how you've received your injury since you say this is the way you walk.
Anyway, ice the area a couple of times a day or after activities like running. Put the ice in some water. You only want to have enough to cover the part that is hurting. Wear shoes with good arch support. You also want a shoe with a rocking heel. That keeps you from putting all your weight on your heels---takes the pressure off. Stretch our your achilles heel as well.
The pads can be bought at stores carrying foot products...they are heel lifts. If you can't find one that works for you, then try seeing a podiatrist.
Hope you start feeling better soon!
make sure/ you /do not /have /heel spurs /see /foot Dr
Well, i really dont know what the answer is. I was gonna recommend dr scholls, but you said it doesnt help, so i really havent got a clue.
maybe you need some insolls, like really thick ones that are cushioned, or have certain parts that have more padding. Its dificult to try and advise you, because i dont know anything that would be good for you.
You can try and go to a shoe shop, and ask them, but to tell you the truth, i dont know.
I have the same problem. Sounds like you have a heel spur. Go to a podiatrist for a cortisone shot and some anti-inflammatory pills. It works like a charm. No more pain.

Answer:
It's the beans! They're giving you gas cramps, I've done the same thing before, and too, the fiber in the beans will act as kinda like a laxative!
Drink some water. Try to make yourself go to the bathroom. If the pain continues, have a friend take you to the emergency room.
Howzit
I believe you are suffering from stomach ulcers. you see your docter... what happens is you will feel paid after eating chilli/hot food or after not eating for a long time
you should eat reqularly, avoid spicy food and acidic/fizzy drinks. after seeing your docter it should take approximately 5 days and everything will be cool again though with the chances of not being fine if you keep to your current diet.
stomach ulcer = corrotion of the epithelium covering a surface of the stomach. it is triggered by the stomach acid or spicy food.
sometimes even when hungry and there is nothing in the stomach...(let you imagination run wild). Get well soon and avoid spicy food man.

Sharp stabbing pelvic pain?
Earlier this week I had a moment where I had to lie down because my lower abdomen (right below my belly button down) started feeling like it was being stabbed. It was really sharp pain that was really intense but only lasted for a minute. I chalked it up to a weird fluke or muscle spasm but today it happened again but for 5 minutes. I am going to make an appointment tomorrow when my doctors office opens but am a little worried. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to expect? Thanks for your help.
Answer:
the appendix is located in the right lower quadrant of abdomen.
but also gas can feel the same way, good idea to keep the doctor's appointment. if the pain intensifies, continues to come and go, and if you have a fever, these are all good reasons to go to the E.R.
Like the last person said, it may be appendicitis. This sounds like me when I had to go to the ER for it (I was a kid, then). It is life threatening, and should be taken *very* seriously.
Go to the Emergency Room ASAP. If it turns out to be nothing, at least you can be sure of that, and not have to guess, anymore.

Sharp pain in my arms after a sneeze?
What causes this? This has happened to me as long as I can remember. It is usually just one arm, but sometimes both. It's not every sneeze, just the really hard ones.

I can relate.
I am curious if this is HEART related.

Sharp pain in back of my head.. not coming from neck?
know, I know, "call your doctor". Before I did that, I was just curious to see if anyone else had experienced the same thing.
I've been getting horrible pain in the back of my head for awhile now. First it was only if I turned my head a certain way. Now, it's when I chew or do anything really(jerk my head too fast, when i turn over in bed...) I'm 37 weeks pregnant.. and just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced anything similar.
Think this could be pregnancy related? Or should I call my regular doctor. It just started a few weeks ago. Never had this pain before in my life.
Answer:
I get them sometimes when I'm on the computer for an excessive amount of time...IDK why, I Just do.

Shaking when..?
whenever i eat, take a picture , hold something in my hand, i shake. not really bad but it started to worry me. im only 13.
anyone know if this is ok.. or what?
Answer:
You need to get checked for diabetes. It can cause shaking if the food is high in carbs and turns into suger. It could be as simple as nerves though.
could be nerves, but could be something far worse like MS - see your doctor
See your Doctor ... you may be lacking nutrition. Good Luck
It could be a number of things. A pinched nerve, not eating right etc. If it continues go see your doctor.
It is a problem that a lot of people have. But it doesn't mean that you will not be able to function in this world. It is usually neurological. And if you feel worried about it have your parents to that you to a doctor.
If it's enough to worry you, it's enough to talk to your doctor about. Some people always have a slight tremor when a muscle contracts, but in most cases, it can be due to diabetes/hypoglycemia, ms (multiple sclerosis), some kinds of vitamin/mineral deficiencies, coffee drinking or drinking any of the new caffeine-loaded "power" drinks and a lot of other things. It will require medical tests to find the cause or rule things out.
You may possibly just have degenerate tremors that could be caused by simple dehydration or lack of other things, but it could be a possible early sign of pakinsons you need to see a doctor
It could also mean that you are drinking too much caffeine in your soda, or other beverages.

Severe pain in my shoulder...?
I have severe pain in my left shoulder that is moving up my neck and down my arm. I also have pins and needles feeling in the painful area. This does not feel like muscle pain and there is nothing that I can remember happening to me in the last few days that could have caused this. My question is what could this be and does any one have any ideas as to how I can relieve the pain? I took 800mg of motrin a few hours ago and that did not give me any relief. I know that everyone will say that I need to go to the doctor. I have an appointment tonight at 7:00 so there is quite a bit of time between now and then to suffer this pain. Any ideas?
Answer:
These conditions are closely related and may occur alone or in combination. If the rotator cuff and bursa are irritated, inflamed, and swollen, they may become squeezed between the head of the humerus and the acromion. Repeated motion involving the arms, or the aging process involving shoulder motion over many years, may also irritate and wear down the tendons, muscles, and surrounding structures.
Tendinitis is inflammation (redness, soreness, and swelling) of a tendon. In tendinitis of the shoulder, the rotator cuff and/or biceps tendon become inflamed, usually as a result of being pinched by surrounding structures. The injury may vary from mild inflammation to involvement of most of the rotator cuff. When the rotator cuff tendon becomes inflamed and thickened, it may get trapped under the acromion. Squeezing of the rotator cuff is called impingement syndrome.
Tendinitis and impingement syndrome are often accompanied by inflammation of the bursa sacs that protect the shoulder. An inflamed bursa is called bursitis. Inflammation caused by a disease such as rheumatoid arthritis may cause rotator cuff tendinitis and bursitis. Sports involving overuse of the shoulder and occupations requiring frequent overhead reaching are other potential causes of irritation to the rotator cuff or bursa and may lead to inflammation and impingement.
What Are the Signs of Tendinitis and Bursitis?
Signs of these conditions include the slow onset of discomfort and pain in the upper shoulder or upper third of the arm and/or difficulty sleeping on the shoulder. Tendinitis and bursitis also cause pain when the arm is lifted away from the body or overhead. If tendinitis involves the biceps tendon (the tendon located in front of the shoulder that helps bend the elbow and turn the forearm), pain will occur in the front or side of the shoulder and may travel down to the elbow and forearm. Pain may also occur when the arm is forcefully pushed upward overhead.
How Are These Conditions Diagnosed?
Diagnosis of tendinitis and bursitis begins with a medical history and physical examination. X rays do not show tendons or the bursae but may be helpful in ruling out bony abnormalities or arthritis. The doctor may remove and test fluid from the inflamed area to rule out infection. Impingement syndrome may be confirmed when injection of a small amount of anesthetic (lidocaine hydrochloride) into the space under the acromion relieves pain.
How Are Tendinitis, Bursitis, and Impingement Syndrome Treated?
The first step in treating these conditions is to reduce pain and inflammation with rest, ice, and anti-inflammatory medicines such as aspirin, naproxen (Naprosyn*), or ibuprofen (for example, Advil, Motrin, or Nuprin). In some cases the doctor or therapist will use ultrasound (gentle sound-wave vibrations) to warm deep tissues and improve blood flow. Gentle stretching and strengthening exercises are added gradually. These may be preceded or followed by use of an ice pack. If there is no improvement, the doctor may inject a corticosteroid medicine into the space under the acromion. While steroid injections are a common treatment, they must be used with caution because they may lead to tendon rupture. If there is still no improvement after 6 to 12 months, the doctor may perform either arthroscopic or open surgery to repair damage and relieve pressure on the tendons and bursae.
well i dont know if this will help but try putting ice on it. this makes the inflamation in your bones go down so it doesnt hurt as much. a doctor told me to do this to my wrist because my wrist would always hurt after gymnastics or cheerleading from tumbling
It may be a slipped disc...it sounds like your spinal cord is being pinched off and thats why you have tingling and pain in your arm

Severe headache and nausea. Went away with pain/nausea shots. Could this still be serious?
I woke up with a severe headahce and nausea. I felt like I couldn't lift up my head and I was throwing up bile. I went to the walk in clinic and I felt like I was gonna pass out. They gave me two shots, one for pain, one for the nausea. The symptoms went away shortly after and I went home and slept for about an entire day. Today I have no pain or nausea, but I still have a very faint sensation in my forhead where the pain was before. I simply cannot afford a CT scan right now, but I am afraid because while it was all going on the doctor said it could be something as serious as an anuerysm or menengitis. I was wondering if its possible that it could be theses things even though the major sypmtoms dissapeared. Would an anuerysm contiune to hurt when the meds wore off? Or is this a first time migraine and I'm worrying? Please help, I'm quite nervous. Thanks
Answer:
You seem to have a migraine. Some people get them regularly, some people get them once and never again. I doubt that its meningitis, that is very rare, and the symptomatic meningitis headache is accompanied with severe neck pain and stiffness to the point that you cant move. But, if you notice any purple splotches on your skin, go see your doctor IMMEDIATELY. An aneurysm would continue to be painful because of its constant pressure. If you're getting repeat migraines there are treatments such as Imatrex that deal with the nervous system to relieve headaches. If another one strikes, try Excedrine as opposed to Advil or Tylenol. I wouldn't worry for now, your symptoms are almost identical to a migraine I had, and it hasn't come back to this day.
It sounds to me like the classic symptoms of a migraine headache. The sensation where the pain was in your forehead could last another day or two, but it'll go away.
Sounds like a migraine. I wouldn't panic. If it were meningitis you wouldn't be feeling better right now. And if it were an aneurysm you'd probably be dead.
Stop jumping to conclusions. If you still feel weird then go back to the doctor.
It could be nearly anything. Probably something as simple as a migraine or sinus headache. Or perhaps an allergic reaction. Take it easy and just pay attention to how you feel. Try not to stress about it, though - you'll just feel worse!
An anuerysm and menengitis are far less common than just having a rotten headache. If you are feeling better, you are probably fine. Sinus infections can cause you to feel rotten and that may be all it was.
If you feel worse tomorrow, call the doctor. If you feel better, don't worry about it.
http://www.meningites.com try this sight out and see if this may be what your having systoms from my wife had the same thing in the past and it turned out to be this not meaning its what you have but a small chance it could be there is alot of things to cause head aches like stress

My husband has arthritus in his ankles. He is taking Glucosamine and it is helping him. You can buy it at any drug store or Walmart or Costco. My husband is 58 - I would suggest you check with her Doctor first because of her age and also blood problem. It's tough to see her suffer and I commend you on your effort to help her. Good luck.

Serious skin peeling questions...?
Okay, I went out in the sun for a few hours the other day and I got a pretty good burn on basically just my back, shoulders, and back of my legs. I would rate it a 5-6 out of 10. But the pain and itching was more severe than I can remember in a long time so... I want to know if anyone could tell me what to do to eliminate and/or speed up this darn peeling. I know there isn't much people are going to say other than wait it out but I really don't want to. The pain is gone now but my back is left peeling and so itchy, and hard to reach, lol. I can feel the soft areas and also the other areas needing to peel that are lightly scaly. I want those areas gone. Not only because they are the ones that itch but because I can't even enjoy my summer!! Anyone have a really quick solution whether it is exfoliating or anything else that works. Nothing too oily or nasty feeling though-like vaseline. I will break out. Please help me and don't worry about telling me the obvious. I know!! Help!
Answer:
This is a super question. You want to take two steps... If you are sure that the pain is gone... 1) You need to exfoliate! Dont use something too harsh, Origins Never a Dull Moment would be good, or something similar. 2) You need to moisturize like crazy! Shea butter, coacoa butter, and something with retinol would be your best bets. Good luck, and maybe just a touch of sunsreen next time.

What do you want to accomplish before you die?
Answer:
Aye! You look somewhat like me! LOL
I want to be successful. I don't want to be like all my friends and family. They really aren't going anywhere in life, they either have no jobs or they work at wal-mart or mobile if they're lucky. My Dad's the only one in my life with a respectable job right now. I'm definitely going to college. I'm going to contribute to society!
I really want to fall in love with a great guy and get married, then have a kid or two.
That's about all I'm thinking about doing long-term right now. I'm well aware that things don't always go the way they are planned, but it's good to have goals. :)
want to surf in hawaii! ;)
To Accomplish my goal of getting into the Career I want to do.
I want to live!!! More specifically I want to life to the fullest. Every night when I go to bed I want to be happy about the day that is ending and every morning I want to wake up happy to be alive. I am not a Marine but I believe in their motto "Semper Fi" which means (roughly) "Seize the day!"
i wanna find a good meaning of life as well as live the best life i can so when i die alotta people can look at me in my casket and say: "DAMN SHE LIVED A GOOD LIFE"
I am a whistle-blower of a huge northwestern corporation.. (honestly) I would like to tell my story in a way that it would be heard and be beneficial to the literally tens of thousands of people that NEED to hear it, around America, that don't have a clue. And I would like to live through it.
well im not sure where to start:
swim with dolphins
travel the world
start a pi business
see my kids grow up

Sensitive test result?
I went in for a routine HIV screening last week. When I went to my doctor today, I asked the medic if my labs were back. He said he'd check, and I could look over his shoulder. The list of labs I had were up, and my HIV screening was there but it was blanked out due to privacy issues. Does this mean it's a positive result? It read like "*******" Wouldn't it show up if it were negative? The doc is supposed to call me, but hasn't yet. Help I'm freaking!
Answer:
Don't get all worried until there is a need to be. It could have been a false/positive or visa versa. Just chill out for now. I know you really are anxious and I would be be too. Go be with your best girlfriend and have a good time. Forget about the test for now.
Should you be there in the first place?

Sending someone into Drug Rehab?
My cousin is heavily addicted to some rather harmful drugs %26 I wanted to know if there is some way to get her into a rehab even if she is UNWILLINGLY wanting to go??
Answer:
unfortunately you cannot force anyone to go to rehab. If you take her and she tells them that she doesnt want to be there they will let her go. People who has an addiction always believe that they dont have a problem and therefore it is extremely hard to help them. Unless they are willing to help themselves there isnt much you can do about it. Sad indeed and i know that you are hurting by this but there isnt much you can do. Talk to your cousin and pray that she listens to you and taek your advice.
In some states you can.2 or more immediate famaly members can git a court order .If tha person does not want to quit ,it wont work .It also might caues bab feelings between yall.
The rehabs I know about won't take her if she doesn't want to go. Part of recovery is wanting help. Best thing to do is to get as many close friends and family to rally round and do an intervention. If she then agrees to go, make sure you have phone numbers she can call to get in and everything. Some rehabs will send a professional to assist and mediate at your intervention. Call them and find out for sure.
If you pursue this and it works out, she'll thank you. She'll be mad at first.
sad but like she said no it has to be voluntary ..she has to hit ROCK BOTTOM and lose support from everyone in order to make a difference...u do need to pray for her and get your family to go to church and pray with your pastor(preist etc)..your cousin needs all the help..its a scary situation..if you watch that intervention show one A%26E ull c how scary it is...watch it and use some of its tactics...it may be time for an intervention...best to get a specialist

Seeing "stars", moments of blindness, dizziness, nausea, headaches...?
Lately I've been getting all of the above.
Any ideas? I know that my blood pressure is normal.
Thx.
Answer:
Sounds like it could be migraines with auras. See your doc for a checkup and diagnosis.
you could be suffering from migraines or something much worse. as a nurse practitioner, i really encourage you to see a physician immediately!
Having any headaches? If so sounds like migraines. See your Dr. If not get you vision checked.
Could possibly be Vertigo. Not sure if a headache is a symptom, but everything else is. I know of a 10 year old boy who has it, so it is common in younger people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/vertigo_%28...
possibly a migraine, eye problem or inner er disorder. See your doc then start off with a neurologist referral, you should get an MRI
Congratulations!
Name him after me?
O.K. I THOUGHT IT WAS YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE. MY HUSBAND HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS A DAY BEFORE HE HAD HIS STROKE.
NEED TO GET THAT CHECKED OUT TO MAKE SURE YOUR NOT HAVING MINI STROKES TO LEAD TO A BIG ONE.
NOT TRY TO SCARE ,BUT MAKE SURE.

Scope rotator cuff repair post care?
I had rotator cuff repair done through the scope last wed ( a week ago) I have been off pain meds since Saturday feel great no pain, what is the normal process for this. in this good of shape how long til I can remove sling, physical , move arm or drive, thanks
my pre-op isn't til monday
Answer:
Usually you won't be able to move the surgical arm for about 3-4 weeks post-op. Different surgeons require different times of immobilization. It may feel great (which is fantastic) but you need to allow the tendon to heal. Too much too soon can result in another tear. Just let the arm rest in the sling and perform whichever exercises you've been instructed to do (arm hangs/pendulums, elbow ROM resting at your side, squeezing your hand, etc.) I wouldn't do anything raising your elbow from your side at this time. Speak with your doctor and get into physical therapy so your rehab will be as short as safely possible. Good luck!

Scoliosis???
I have Scoliosis and I have had it since I was about 13. The older I get, the more my back bothers me. It feels like there is a catch in it, sometimes it freezes up on me and sometimes it feels like a muscle spasm. Is this from my Scoliosis? The older you get, does it start to wear on you worse and the symptoms get worse?
Answer:
hiya,
the main answer is yes. scoliosis not only effects your spine but also the muscles and ligaments attached to either side or the front and back of your body. this muscle imbalance can cause lots of pain and discomfort. there are exercises that can really help equal out this imbalance. if you would like to know more then please contact me. my normal email is deborah99@hotmail.com

Scoliosis??!!?
My doctor told me I have scoliosis. You cant really notice it. Its only a little bump on the right side of my back. It doesnt bother me that much. It only hurts when I lift something heavy. My doctor said its only a 7 degree. They cant do anything until its a 21 degree.
i dont want the bump to be THAT big. Does anyone know a way the bump can go away?
Answer:
My sister has it too. I think the Doctor gave her some exercises to do. I would talk to him about back exercises. Talk to him too about general body building.
Do your own research on the Internet to get some ideas about exercises.
Along with special exercises that your Doctor might recommend I can't see how building up your body could hurt.
Maybe your doctor will order some physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in your back to support your spine.
Maybe it'll go away when you grow a little bit more.
Chances are it won't go away.
It can't go away by itself.
Many people have mild scoliosis with no health problems. See another doctor if it bothers you. Maybe another opinion will help
You'll have to talk to your doctor again and see if he'll give you a back brace. My friend who has scoliosis has to wear one, she doesn't like it very much, but its not all that noticable.
It is hard. I had scoliosis but mine was so much worse than yours because we didn't get it checked till I moved where it progressed to 50 degree curve and I had to get surgery. Once you've reached 21 degrees you get this brace that prevents the curve on progressing. It is a good think they caught it this early unlike mine I now have a scar running down my back making it hard to wear certain clothes. But other than that I am satisfied. I don't have that bump anymore. =]
and apparently it is more in common with adolescent teen girls. sucks for us.

Scoliosis surgery?
i want to have scoliosis surgery, but my parents refuse because it would be risky. the question is,is that true? i dont wear my brace for almost a year and it was 24 degree in september 06. should i get a surgery? how's the pain? and is it risky?
Answer:
My first question is do you have a doctor that you see about this? What does he say? Is he recommending surgery?
These questions have to be answered before we even discuss this.
But, the basic is that, if the Scoliosis is interfering with you breathing or your quality of life, meaning that this is a REAL PROBLEM for you. Then you should consider surgery.
Yes, it is a risky procedure like any other surgery, It has risks like any other surgery. Pain wise, I am sure the surgeon will order pain medicine for you to be as comfortable as possible. So, that is not so much a worry.
Will it be successful? That would depend on you and the surgeon. Do your homework, pick a surgeon that SPECIALIZES in Scoliosis, and speak to his patients, find out how they are doing, what do they say about him etc.., then make your choice. Involve your parents encourage them to do their homework and educate themselves about all that has to do with the surgery and then they can make an "informed decision as a family". Remember your parents want what is best for you.
It is a risky operation but you and your parents need to sit down with the physician and go over all the options. This is not the place to get your info honey. Talk with professionals and best of luck to you.

Scared of having a heart attack while working out hard?
i read about some guy having a heart attack while he was working out, sometimes i get chest pains, but i went to the doctor for it but finally found out it was only anxiety related and my blood pressure and cholesterol were normal. im only 20 years old, but the chest pains remind me of the guy and im scared to run on the treadmill. six years ago i used to run an hour at a time but that was before the chest pains. i tried ignoring it, but my stupid brain keeps thinking about the possibility.
Answer:
Just go ahead and work out normally! Dont worry about having heart attack since your doctor doesnt point out any serious health probs you have. Exercising is good for health! =D
I think that guy who you mentioned has more health problems. I dont think the cause of him having heart attack is sorely because of working out.
Make sure that you know where is your body limit. If you can feel that your body cant take it anymore, take a rest. Dont push yourself too hard. Perhaps you can take a short break after every 30mins of jogging.
If you are still worried, you could consult your doctor and get some advice from him of how to exercise in a appropriate way. Or get some pills from him to ease your chest pains (if any) so it will make you feel more secure..?
Good luck! =]
Interesting..im 20 and i have anxiety also...well i doubt you'll have a heart attack like that guy..he probably had more problems...so dont fret about that,i can tell your very paranoid about this subject though. but honestly you shouldn't worry..you'd only get heart attacks if you dont workout and get obese! so think of that...
Or maybe you have gas pain,or are pulling a muscle since you workout hard...
Always listen to your body. If you don't feel like running for too long, then don't. The self-suggestion can cause real damage. So, wait a while until the feeling goes away and then gradually increase the milage.
dont get affraid. u r only 20. if u r a woman, nature protects u till 45y %26 30y for mens.
this is a chat from a heart specialist. think this will helpfull to think positive. your brain is not stupid, prevention is better than cure.

Scared of going to jail.. here are the facts. let me know if i should be worried?
I had a party for the 4th of july. sometime in the night a 14 year old girl had come into my party without my knowledge. Someone had given her alcohol, well the party nears its end and everyone goes home but me and 4 of my male friends. after we had went to sleep the 14 year old girl returns to my house through my backdoor that does not lock properly. The next morning the cops wake me up asking what the girl was doing in my home. I told them i had no clue. The parents freak out thinking someone had done something to her, took her into a hospital to get a rape kit done. About 4 hours later the cops comes back out and arrests me for contributing to the delinquency. A misdimeanor, upon arresting me he says "it looks like no one has touched her, but i have to arrest you for contributing" So i go to jail. no questioning on anything. So should i be worrying about more than the delinquency charge? And wouldnt we al have been questioned on this by now if there were something else? help plz
Answer:
i asked my friends mother who is a cop and she said that you shouldn't worry that if it was n e thing else they would have told you by now. but if thats all that happened then there is nothing else they can charge you with and all that should happen is you will have to pay some money.
other than that you should be good to go
you will get hit with some fines and thats about it. you can prolly ask a judge for a reduction in fines if you do community service or something. also try callin a public defender and ask for advice.
Unless they have a reason to find your semen in the girl, then you have nothing to worry about. You were arrested for contributing because it was your house, so you are responsible in that way, but if you are innocent of everything else, then you have nothing to worry about.
You should hire a lawyer immediately, especially if the overzealous parents are interested in a civil suit. If you actually don't know what happened at the party to the girl, you should defintely seek legal counsel.
might get a good lawer if you know your innocent fight it, ask the parents where they were all night while their 14 yr old daughter was out they should go to jail not you for just being young having fun, Good Luck Champ
Whoever was hosting the party and therefore provided the alcohol usually gets all the blame.
Tough break, hopefully the police will understand what really happened.
You should definitely talk to the girl's parents, police, someone. If anything, she should be charged with juvenile delinquency or underage alcohol consumption (since you didn't actually hand her the drink and only made alcohol available because you didn't expect a minor to show up!
Get law assistance!
Who gave her the alcohol-or did she take it herself?
Why do the parents of a 14 year old allow her out at night?
good luck!
i honestly don't know. it is a good thing that she was taken in for an exam though - this could be a big help! i would check with a lawyer. maybe even several - they give free consultations, and after getting several of those, you should know where you stand.
good luck!
Any attorney will provide you with a free consultation. That is who you should ask; not a bunch of strangers on the internet.

Scared Hiccups?
My brother just came up to me and scared me. Before he did this I had the hiccups, and now they are gone. Why does scaring someone cause hiccups to go away?
Answer:
because it forces you to think about something other than the hiccups and also you skip a breath and the reason why you have hiccups is there's too much air. mwahhh love you caitttt.

Saliva Drug Testing?
I smoked weed for my first time on tuesday and it now friday and i have to take a saliva drug test tomorrow for a new job. Would i pass?
Answer:
To the best of my knowledge, the test can detect weed use for up to 6 weeks prior. Here they having introduced random drug tests along with the ones for alcohol, while driving.
Read in the papers that a guy got off a using drugs while driving conviction, because it could have been that long ago that he used, and the test could still detect it. The test for driving under the influence of drugs has now been refined, but I would think that they would use the first kind of test for your situation.
Like the first guy said - not a smart thing to do when you KNOW you're having a drug test!
your an idiot. Weed stays in your fat for a month. THere is not fat in your saliva but you will still fail. Seriouslly what kind of moron does drugs the day before a drug test

Safe to drive after getting blood drawn?
I'm 18 and need to get blood drawn for tests sometime this week. The problem is my mom, dad, brother, sister, and even my aunts won't be around to come with me. I've gotten blood taken before when I donated in school last fall, but I didn't have to worry about driving until at least 4 hours afterwards.
Is it safe for me to drive directly after getting my blood drawn? Or should I start bugging my friends to come with me?
Answer:
you will be ok to drive. i always drive myself to a from blood tests. there is alot less blood drawn from a test than there is in a blood donation
Better to be safe than sorry. I think they won't let you leave the site until your health is stable, but I'd persuade someone to drive you just in case.
P.S.
Hooray to you for donating!
Yes, it is safe to drive after having your blood. I have had literally thousands of blood draws, and have drove myself to 99% of them.
If it is only a couple of tubes for tests, you should have no problems. You don't have a serious aversion to needles do you? I mean, you don't think you will faint? If not, you'll be just fine.
As a nurse, I can tell you that it is perfectly safe to drive after having blood drawn. You're not donating blood, just getting it drawn for tests, which means they aren't taking as much blood. Just drink plenty of water and you'll be fine.
Is it for a blood drive or just a simple blood test for the docs?
If its just a simple small test then don't worry about it.
You can drive.
But if its for donating a pint of blood then yes, I recommend you getting someone to drive you home.
First time I donated blood I almost fainted 10 minutes later.
Be safe. =)

S.L.O.M.M.I.N.G. Commercial?
In that drug awareness commercial where the kids stick leaches on themselves (slomming)...is that a real actual activity that those kids are doing or are the drug centers using the leaches activity as an example...for instance.are the leaches supposed to represent marijuana or do those kids really do that to themselves?
Answer:
"POT" kills !
The commercial is about peer pressure... the way some kids will do whatever they see the other kids doing, even if it's stupid, harmful or gross. It's an analogy. There is no real-world trend among kids to let leeches suck their blood.
its just an example, people dont actually do it. that is unless someone tried it as a result of the commercial.
LOL. Kids don't do that for real. They're just trying to spread the message that kids are influenced by their peers and friends.
no its just to show how we do stupid things just because other do it
it's just a commercial that kind of thing doesn't really happen. it's just an extreme example of what peer pressure can sucker you into doing.
SLOMMING it fake. theyre saying why would someone stick LEECHES on themselves..? and the same thing goes or drugs. why would someone do drugs with the high risk of KILLING yourself or going to jail..? see, both of them completely stupiddd

S>A<D ? is it common? do you get it?if so how do you work with it? what do you do when you have it?
Answer:
Lots of people get it. It can be a big deal but knowing you have it or may have it is a big step in curing it. There are special lights that can be used but the best thing for me is getting outside for a bit.changing your routine.
stinky azz disease is not life threatening..just bath with soap and water and you can live a normal life.
Seasonal affective disorder is very common especially in the states where winter is long and cold. I don't get it per say but people who do need to use light therapy to help.
Runny nose?
I always have runny nose since young. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, meat and carbo foods but still, sick. Exercises a little, any idea what causes this?
Answer:
You may be allergic to pet dander (Do you have a pet?) or dust or pine trees or pollen or something in your air. Do you use ceiling fans? I know I get stopped up if I use ceiling fans. You need to see an allergist. I get allergy shots weekly and I am 100% better. I used to be addicted to nasal spray at night just to sleep, but I don't even need it now.

Runny bowel movements?
I don't know why but for the last month, I've had runny bowel movements (or light diahhrea) for no obvious reason. I am not doing anything differently or eating anything differently.
I have been having a lot of stress lately but that is nothing new and I never had any bowel problems before.
What possible reasons could there be for this? I don't have HIV either so that isn't a possible cause.
Answer:
You may get checked out for "IBS" or Irritable Bowel Syndrome and there is meds to control it!
BR
it can simply be from stress-
u can try over the counter meds for diarrhea
also try going to see an Md to get u some antidepressants or talk to someone to decrease ure stress-
having bad enough stress to make ur body have this reaction isnt good- it depletes ur body of vitamins/minerals
it's probably the stress and it should go away
Get a plumber.
Loose stool like you describe could be caused by infection, stress, diet change, laxative use, antibiotic use or inflammatory bowel disease. Check especially if you have any blood or mucous in your stool. Be aware of abdominal pains excess gas and nausea. If this continues you could experience electrolyte disturbances because you may be losing too much fluids and potassium in your stool. Loose stools for a month is a cause of concern and should be followed up with your doctor for diagnoses and treatment.
you been drinkin alot it happens when u are a heavy drinker
You need to make an appointment with your physician. It might be nothing at all. Or it might be an indicator for more testing needed. They will take a blood sample to check for infections. Also you might have picked up a bacterial infection or intestinal parisite. You need to get this checked out. It is not an embarrassing topic with health care workers. We deal with this all the time. Poo, is just a normal function of the body. Please go get this checked out. You will feel better soon.
Ulcerative colitis exhibits this symptom. Although you've been under a lot of stress before, this auto-immune disease begins without warning during times of stress. Ulcerative colitis is when you have ulcers in your colon. If your stools are also bloody, the ulcers are bleeding. Another symptom of this disease is horrible cramping while you pass your runny stools.
You should see your doctor soon to determine if what you are experiencing is this disease. Keep yourself hydrated in the meantime with electrolyte replacement drinks like Gatorade. All the best to you.

Running Problem?
When i run or jog my legs will get very itchey and makes it very uncomfortable and hard to run. do you know why this may be? and what can i do to stop it?
Answer:
You have a rare case of atlethes foot for the leg unless this also applys to your feet then I will suggest you to buy some medicine called Athletes foot removal treatment and or go see your usual doctor.
I may be because you are burning fat on your legs.
if you havent run in a long time the first couple of times you really push yourself your legs will get itchy. it's because your body is forming new capillaries in your legs. it happened to me after like a month of not working out and that's what my doctor said.
I'm no health/fitness expert, but it may be because you're working parts of your body that weren't used to being all worked and stuff. haha. So like, the blood is circulating a little better. Because I notice the same thing, if I've been sitting around all day then i go for a jog/walk my legs get itchy and it's pretty irritating. I really don't know what to tell you to prevent it... I'm sorry.

Rubbing Limes on your forehead for headaches?
Okay I heard about this and I thought it was crazy. I thought that I would just get juice in my eyes and burn them. I get migranes and sinus headaches often. One day I was in so much pain I was desperate and I happened to have a lime in the fridge. So I tried it and to my shock it worked. Nearly instantaneously the throbbing in my head went away. My husband has tried it too - after laughing at me of course. It worked for him too. We are trying to figure out if it is the cold or if there is something in the lime juice that is actually doing something. I have put ice and cold things on my head for headaches in the past and it has done nothing for the pain. Does anyone know what property/chemical composition in the limes is taking away the pain? We have been joking that it is the "magic" in the limes but I would really like to know.
Answer:
your blatently trying to promote lime sales...im onto you
LOL that last answer was great.
omg i wud patent that idea NOW becuase i think youve discovred a cure for headaches.

Rolling a cigarette?
What is the best way to roll a cigarette wit zig zags
Answer:
get your "plant of choice" grounded in straight line in the middle of the paper. lift it up so its shaped like a slope and with the plant drifting towards you, roll it up until you get to the glue. lick it lightly. keep it open on one end so you can pack it.

do u want cavcer!!!
i get it ground up, as previously stated, (personally, i lick and rip off about a quarter inch off the paper since it has glues and stuff in it that i'd rather not inhale- the less the better), i take the paper (sticky side facing the other way) and crease the side facing me horizontally. then put your **** in, stick your index fingers on either side just above the tobacco and just try to keep it tight (practice makes perfect). once you do that, twist one end and hold the other. shake it toward the end you twisted, then twist the other, tightly. snip off both ends and find a lighter.
