I'm 18 and need to get blood drawn for tests sometime this week. The problem is my mom, dad, brother, sister, and even my aunts won't be around to come with me. I've gotten blood taken before when I donated in school last fall, but I didn't have to worry about driving until at least 4 hours afterwards.
Is it safe for me to drive directly after getting my blood drawn? Or should I start bugging my friends to come with me?
Answer:
you will be ok to drive. i always drive myself to a from blood tests. there is alot less blood drawn from a test than there is in a blood donation
Better to be safe than sorry. I think they won't let you leave the site until your health is stable, but I'd persuade someone to drive you just in case.
P.S.
Hooray to you for donating!
Yes, it is safe to drive after having your blood. I have had literally thousands of blood draws, and have drove myself to 99% of them.
If it is only a couple of tubes for tests, you should have no problems. You don't have a serious aversion to needles do you? I mean, you don't think you will faint? If not, you'll be just fine.
As a nurse, I can tell you that it is perfectly safe to drive after having blood drawn. You're not donating blood, just getting it drawn for tests, which means they aren't taking as much blood. Just drink plenty of water and you'll be fine.
Is it for a blood drive or just a simple blood test for the docs?
If its just a simple small test then don't worry about it.
You can drive.
But if its for donating a pint of blood then yes, I recommend you getting someone to drive you home.
First time I donated blood I almost fainted 10 minutes later.
Be safe. =)
