Role of heart and the lungs in exercise?
Answer:
the heart circulates blood through your body. the lungs fill this with oxygen. one of they key ingrediants needed for burning calories. without oxygen the muscles you want to move would be unable toget their nutrients and oxygen to perform their tasks.
in excersize, muscles need more oxygen and nutrients than when not excersizing. therefor the hearth increases its rate, to pump more oxygen to the muscles. breathing also increases to get more oxygen into the lungs.
Ritalin seems to make everything perfect for me. I have a perscription, think I need increase, any advice?
I have a prescription for Ritalin, (methylphenidate) and I take it how I'm supposed to . It makes everything perfect for me, but It wears off really fast. (20mg 1 time a day) and I go back next week to the shrink. Any Ideas to get my dose upped to 20mg 3 times a day? Thanks.
Answer:
20 mg isn't very much, unless you are a child. There are time release medications similar to Ritalin that last 8 hours, and now they have a patch. But remember, These meds can interfere with diet and sleep. Sleep and a healthy diet are just as important to your condition, so you should have most of your day unmedicated. Make sure you are using the hours well, during school or work. Don't believe what you hear about it being addicting, you are taking a medication in controlled amounts. Drug abusers take more and more everytime. There is a big difference and many ignorant people do not understand the difference.
Were you not told this is highly addicting drug? Prescription or not.
Call your doctor, he can tell you over the phone if it is ok to increase the dosage
Never up the dose without doctors approval. Talk to him I'm sure he will listen. There is a time release ritalin that might work for you. Most people take it at least two times a day.
The reason you are only being given it once per day is because if you take it too late in the day, it will cause you insomnia and possibly other side effects that are not pleasant.
Ritalin is only meant to get you through you school or work part of the day. Your body needs rest from the drug the rest of the day. And over time you will have build up anyway.
They may give you either a larger dose is the morning, or one other dose to take at noon. But I'd recommend sticking with the one dose of 20mg.
You really don't want to get addicted to a drug...trust me. Just do as your doctor says.
How about telling your doctor that you feel really great when the Ritalin kicks in, but when it wears off, you backslide...
Or ask if there is a long-release version that will have the same effect as taking it two or three times a day.

Ring of fire??!?
hey people its a bit of an odd question but when i have a huge poo why does it hurt and burn after it?
Answer:
Hi, did you find it hard to go to the toilet? It may be that you aren't getting enough fibre. Also, make sure you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables as this will loosen the poo. Please go to the doctor as it may be piles. You can use a cream to treat this. Or you may simply have strained too hard. This can burst a small vesel in the anus making it painful to go and sometimes there me be a bit of blood on the tissue. This happened to me once but after time it went away by itself. Good luck to you.
cos the sun was in uranus
could be what u r eating.. a bit to acididy maybe
Blame Johnny Cash
Alot of it has to do with what you eat. Stop eating fatty foods with hot spices. What goes in must come out.
because you might be ripping the walls of your anus, or have hemorroids that break as you push the poo out. If you also see blood, you should check with your doctor.
Ring sting ha ha ha lay of the curries
eat less spicey food, drink more water and fresh orange and eat more fibre.
maybe you were constipated and you did not drink enough water to soften it.
Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day, because the small intestine absorbs water to soften the stool.

Right things to eat when you're sick?
i had an upset stomach %26 diahrrea all night %26 today i have been trying to eat 'bland'. I have eaten one peice of plain toast, a banana, and i had a little bit of salad w/ tunafish, vinigrette dressing, 2 pears, and some saltine crackers. I also have been drinking diet green tea %26 water. Do you think those are the right things to be eating?
Answer:
I didn't even know you could get diet green tea!
I recommend peppermint tea for sickenss and digestion as it is really soothing.
I wouldn't think vinigrette was the best thing, or salad for that matter. I reckon plain toast is probably good, wholemeal being better than white and if you have still got diarrhea you should probably avoid eating anything for a bit. Drink plenty of water as you will be dehydrated.
soup
Sounds good to me. Lots of fluids and keep the sugar low.
Yes, I say they are.
hagis(livers of animals from Scotland)
eat soup but mostly the soup part not too much noodles or nything
I don' think the vinaigrette dressing would be good for your body when your sick, because it has a lot of oil in it, making it sort of like a laxative. Other than that i think its all good :]
If it stays down, it's the right thing. Rice is another good one.
soup
Saltine crackers and soup as well as drinking water or milk or Ginger Ale!! Feel Better
THE "BRAT" DIET BREAD RICE APPLESAND TEA THATS GOOD FOR KIDS BUT IT DOES HELP ADULTS TOO
if it tasted good and it's staying down, then you should be fine - everyone is different and certain things that sound good to you may turn someone else's stomach - for me the first thing I want after I've been sick are mandarin oranges...funny thing is, I don't much care for them any other time! Just take it easy and feel better!
If you have an upset stomach, the last thing you should be eating is dairy products and caffeine. If you want to drink tea, try green tea without caffeine. (I like your choice of diet green tea) Try chicken noodle soup, (absolutely no clam chowder soup), and what helps me sometimes in Ginger Ale (Preferbly Canada Dry) I hope you feel better and I hope this helps! ;]

Answer:
If you have an upset stomach and diarrhea, you should follow this diet - B.R.A.T.
B = Bread (or something high in fiber)
R = Rice (or other carbs)
A = Applesauce (for fruit)
T = Toast (the same as bread, but bread is very important)
This diet has been recommended for years by nurses and doctors (and moms) alike. If you follow this, you should be good to go. And of course, drink plenty of water and other clear liquids.
Hope you feel better soon!
Be careful with salad dressing, you want to stick to plain things. Chicken soup is a classic and I always eat Jello when my stomach is upset, 7Up, crackers, Gatorade is good too.
Just stay clear of foods with spices and eat more plain foods! Hope you feel better.
no, this is too much .you have to pause and have some soup and corn bread for one day then you start eating bigger meals but don't eat tuna together with chicken or beef
Junkfood and plenty of it. :P
The banana might be ok but when I had a stomach probem, since my Grandma was a nurse she said if you have Diahrrea with a stomach problem you should eat something with gelatain in it like jello. Try eating jello because it can hydrate you and you wont retain water and your poo will go back to noramal. After things are nomal eat a light meal.
chicken noodle soup and crackers it soothes your stomach
sometimes that may be too much. It would be better to have maybe some yogurt...that helps with digestion -live cultures. THen try some gatorade at intervals just a couple of sips. It helps because it balances your electrolytes which u are losing through ur sickness.
Another common remedy for diahrrea is to boil rice in lots of water until it is cooked then strain it and drink the water. Dont know why but it soothes the stomach a lot.
stick to the brat diet...
bananas
rice
apples
toast
i really hope you feel better and the rice should be plain and make sure you drink water and NO fish!!
Well, so far you have eaten great! Try not to eat too much. The salad might not be a good idea though. Here's some awesome foods to eat when you are sick.
7up, some saltine crackers
yes toast and fruit
LOTS of water and milk
dont get up too fast when you need to walk
Just healthy soft not rich foods
Hope you get well.
lucozade, toast, rice pudding (though in my opinion that would be enough to make me puke but its sposed to be good) and stuff like mints and polos are good. puking is sometimes because of acid in your stomach so alkalis are good eg milk or mint. bread and toast are fibre and kind of soak up whats in your stomach making you less likely to puke. hope this helps
get well soon :)

Rhinoplasty which results in flared nostrils? Will they be considerably less flared once swelling subsides?
Or will it not chnage enough when the swelling reduces to make a huge difference.
Answer:
The swelling can be considerable after rhinoplasty, and it will markedly improve. I can't see your nose and swelling, though, to see if it causing the appearance of flared nostrils. I bet it will look much better, though. Otherwise talk to your ENT doc.

Retention Ponds, Fence them in! Do you agree!?
Answer:
Yes.
Local ordinance in my area does just that.
uhm.no, not always. depends on the neighborhood. most have backyard fences to combat the issue.
others stock the ponds, use it as a wild life preserve. some even have fountains and waterfalls.
a fence would make it look ugly.
as for safety reasons? maybe a stone wall would look nice compaired to that of a chain link fence. but have a gait so all can enjoy a fishing day!
Results of trials on remonabant?
Answer:
Rimonabant works by blocking the CB1 receptor, one of two receptors found in a newly described physiological system called the Endocannabinoid System (EC System), believed to play a critical role in the regulation of food intake and energy expenditure.
The receptors are present on the surfaces of many cells throughout the body, including fat cells -- which are involved in lipid and glucose metabolism -- and those in the hypothalamus, the brain region that is thought to determine appetite.
Cannabinoids, chemical compounds produced by your body, latch on to the CB1 receptors, which are overactive in overweight and obese individuals, sending out a signal that prompts people to eat more.
Acomplia Rimonabant has been approved as a new weight loss drug in a lot of European countries. It is available in many European countries and can be bought online by the consumers from US.
Buying Rimonabant Acomplia helps you to treat obesity but this new class weight loss drug Rimonabant Acomplia is not yet approved for smoking cessation. It is still waiting for the approval from European union for smoking cessation.
Restless Leg Syndrome?
It Takes Me Almost An Hour to Go To Sleep @ Night. Like I Have To Find Exactley the Right Spot. No Matter What I Can't Stop Moving. I Keep Tossing And Turning. Moving my Legs. Everything. It Takes Forever. I Can Be So Tired %26 It Still Takes me Sum Where Between A Half An Hour To An Hour or Two To Go To Sleep. My Grandma Has Restless Leg Syndrome. Could It Maybe Be Genetic? What's Wrong With ME! =[
Answer:
I swear I have Restless Leg Syndrome, but I dont experience it at night I experience during the day usually while sitting at my desk. My legs will feel strange and I have to move them or the pain just becomes unbearable its a really wierd feeling.
What seems to help for me was cutting back on my caffiene intake especially Mountain Dew. This only happens to me now once in awhile, opposed to every day.
Definitely sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome. As a fellow sufferer, I can sympathize with you. Go to your doctor and get some meds. There are a couple of good ones out there, especially the one you see advertised on TV - Requip. But it's not the only one, so let your doctor suggest which one he thinks is best. I found that Trazodone also worked for me for a long time, then I had to switch to Requip.
You've Also Got Restless Capital Syndrome.
R L S...does seem to run in families, but it is also seen as part of other illnesses.
Something that does help to relieve it is QUINNINE
Indian Tonic Water contains Quinnine, and is a safe, easy and very cheap source.
Give it a try
Good luck
A.D.
Your best bet is to see a doctor and get a prescription. (What's that one they advertise...Requip?) Anyway, I can tell you from experience it doesn't get any better until you talk to your doctor about it.
Best of luck!
Try to avoid food which has aspartum as one of its ingredients. Aspartum has the ability to mimic many of the disease that is out there.

Respiratory therapist in the cath lab?
what do they do and how prevelant are they
Answer:
they are present in all hospitals that I know of, many cath lab patients prefer to be sedated during a cath, and a respiratory therapist will monitor a sedated patient. Although sometimes, anesthesiologists do this if a general anesthetic is requested.
It's a person in the cath lab that practices respiratory therapy

Removing contacts??!!?
is there any good strategies for removing contacts. because im 13, i just got them, and i'm having a hard time with it. anything is good
Answer:
Put your first or middle finger together with your thumb, and "pinch" the surface of your contact lens until it loses suction to your eye. Then you will be able to easily take them out. Try not to look to the side, just look straight ahead. Watch yourself in the mirror so that you can see what you are doing.
I got mine at age 11, and you will be fine with practice :-)
************* ***************************
The best thing is to go back to the place you got them from and let them do more teaching with you. Sounds like you might not have been ready for contacts or the did a lousy job of contact lens teaching for you.
I just gently hold my eye open with the left hand and grab it with my right.
It takes a little practice.
Good luck :0)
First and best thing to do is relax.
Using your thumb and pointer finger, hold them sideways to your eye (so that your nails will never come in contact with your eye and make a pinching motion with them.
And remember, as long as your hands are clean and your nails don't touch your eye, it won't be damaged. Grab at the contactfrom the sides of your fingers.
First thing I'd say is cut your nails as short as possible, so you don't scratch your eye. Next, wash your hands. With one hand, "pry" open your eye with one finger on the top lid and one on the bottom portion (I use my thumb). I take my index and thumb from the other hand and pinch the contact. I know that it's really hard to trust even yourself, but it takes practice. I know a friend that swipes her contact towards the middle (towards your nose). Oh and I know people that put lot's of solution (NOT CLEANER) into their eye and "float" it out. Sorry if I was confusing. Good luck and practice!
It took almost 1.5 hours for the doc to put my first set of contacts in. It took almost 3 hours for me to take them out.
I ABHOR touching my eyes. Putting in eyedrops is even a chore.
But over time, it got simple. Easy even. Try the various methods given, and give your own methods a try. I finally settled in looking directly in the mirror, using my thumb to pull the contact to the outside corner of my eye, where I pinched it off my eye.
Give it some time. It DOES get simpler with practice. After a few weeks, I could put in and remove my contacts in seconds.

Removing a Heat Rash?
I have a Heat Rash. How do I get rid of it? Please help it itches like crazy!
Answer:
letting the air get to it usually clears it up. stay in the coolest part of your place. benedryl will help the itching but will put you to sleep. drs always say that airing the skin, such as a babys diaper rash, clears it up quick. i would not put any cream over the rash. airing it if you can will help. good luck!
There is this cream called Elocon that works great for me, ask your pharmasist.
i have had it too and i cant really figure out ways either. you might wanna try baby powder after you get out of the shower or lotion. that , for me, has stopped the itching but it hasnt gone away. hope i helped =]
good old tea tree oil or aloe vera gel will work. it might sting for the first few minutes so be warned..then it sooths and heals...if you cant get any use baking soda and water and wash with it then rinse...it helps to but stings more...
I have to disagree with the not putting any cream on it.
I haven't had a heat rash in years.
I have to much hair everywhere.
Just like an Ape..LMAO

Removal of one stitch right by my lip?
Very early yesterday (monday morning) I had one non-disolvable stitch put in right by my lip, towards the corner of my mouth. For several different reasons, including a lack of insurance and a very bad experience, I am not going back to the hospital to have it removed. It seems to be healing fine and I am keeping it clean in addition to putting triple antibiotic ointment on it. I would appreciate exact instructions on how to safely and most effectively remove it ( I am thinking Friday or Saturday). Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Pretty simple. Keep up the antibiotics. Wait 5 to 10 days then snip the stitches at the base of each stitch. Best to have someone do it for you. Pull the strings out one at a time. Then again keep up the antibiotics for another 5 to ten days.

Remedy for a 5 months old infant's cough?
my 5 months old baby is having a cough and i was wondering if there is a safe medicine or remedy that can cure his cough at this age.
Answer:
My oldest son had asthma and his pediatrician would tell me to boil coffee as it is a natural broncioldialator (? spelling). Let the coffee smell lingure in the house. Also get rid of everything that "smells" and be sure that your house is clean. It could just be allergies, but most of all if your child has not seen a doctor, then take him. If you don't have insurance, then seek out community clinics or your church for assistance. Always seek medical advise before given a little one that young medication. I would call the local hospital and ask for their advice.
This is something to call and ask your Dr
at this age, your best bet is a doctor.
Hi, my 7 month has a cough also and I asked my doctor only on Saturday, he said that there is nothing at this age to give them. I am giving my baby infants panadole every 6 hours and just keeping extra warm. Also keep fluids up.

Reducing scars? Please help!?
I have 2 scars on my face from mole removal.. is there anything anyone would reccommend to reduce the appearance and help them blend in with my skin?
My demetologist says he doesnt think any of them work, and people had reccommended pure vitamin E to me, but he says he has found this to actually make the scar worse on some patients!
I was just wondering has any scar treatment like bio-oil or mederma worked for anyone else's scars?
Answer:
hey there grl forget bio oil get urself palmars coa.coa butter its the best i used it on a burn mark a bad one its gone use this twice a day and ur probs wil be ova!mwahs hun
you can try scar make-ups available in beauty stores
I have had some good results with mederma for some scars on my arm and hand(from cuts/gashes). It is a bit pricey to have to buy and find out that it won't work, but I do believe that there is a generic available for it now in some places.
mederma and scarguard worked like a champ on my surgery scars.

Redness in the toes up to the first joint only, on both feet?
Ok, so I am trying to research and find out the cause of this...
Maybe you can help.
I have a pt who has redness at the tips of her toes up to the first joint. It is in both feet.
Need a visual? Look at your feet, or draw a picture of them. Now, take a pen or marker, and draw a line across the knuckles of the first joint... all the way across.. both feet.
Ok, now take a red something or other... and color in the tips of your toes.
Anyone who has this, knows someone who has it, or knows what it is... or just has guesses.. please let me know.
Thanks
Answer:
I could only find one thing that seemed close online - Chilblain's. But you didn't mention if they hurt or itch, and it sounds like the chilblain's do. Perhaps you can check out the site below and see if that sounds familiar.

Red Ithcy eyes, runny and stuffed up nose , sometimes throat and ears hurt.?
This has been going on for about a week now. My eyes will get red and itchy at night and my nose will get stuffed up. When i wake up my eyes will hurt and are hard to open and are still red and itchy and my nose will be all runny. After three hours i am awake my eyesr will be fine they are not itchy at all or red, and my nose is not stuffed up or runny. Until 10 a clock at night then the same symptoms start all over again. Now the doctors have given me eys drops but they do not seem to work well.
Answer:
oh definitly allergies. Same thing happens to me. The ear aches are the worst! I would recommend Claritin too. Often the stores will have a generic brand that works just the same and is much cheaper. If Claritin doesn't help with the pressure - which causes the ear aches, try Sudafed.
waa haa haa ohh the joy of allergies
Sounds like allergies. Try am OTC allergy med.
sounds like allergies you could try claritin
try claritin
Time to see an ear, nose, throat dr. They'll figure it out for you.
SINUS AND ALLERGIES.
Go to see an allergist and be tested. It may be one particular bush/tree that is right on your property. Or it could be a million different things and you could just take an allergy pill and see if it helps.
Allergy's hun! I suffer from them aswell. It is not so great. Try Patanol eye drops and for dry eye try Thera tears(natural tears) Claritin is also something that you may want to take to clear up the rest. I know it sucks!
Allergy Pills over the counter should take care of this problem for you. Find out what your triggers are. Examples: Perfumes,Bleach,Air Fresheners,Dog and Cat Dander,Candles,Soaps,Deodorant Scented,Hair Gels Scented,Pollen,Mold from the bathroom and kitchen. There is plenty more too many to mention.

Red eye in group photo. Eye colors vary. Someone told me that in some people there is a medical reason. Help?
Answer:
It's called "White eye"... It can mean you have cancer. Check out the source. It's at the bottom of the page.
In a photo red eye is not a medical problem it is just the way a camera takes a photo you can get red eye reduction so try it next time and stop worrying about medical problems
its just the flash from the camera. Your eyes react to the flash and it changes the iris color for that split second.
Recovering from food poisoning, still having trouble eating, any suggestions?
i had food poisoning 2 weeks ago..then the following week i felt really sick again due to some monthly female issues. felt sick all over again!! -_-
still can't eat regularly..how long does it usually take to get back to normal? sometimes i'll feel like eating, sometimes i won't or i'll have trouble eating as much as i would usually. this is really frustrating me! i'm running out of ideas of things to eat! please help!
Answer:
Part of it depends on what kind of food poisoning you had. It may be something that is hard to get rid of. Part of it is while you were sick, you weren't eating normally so your stomach shrunk and your appetite may be affected for a while. Part of it may be that the disease really bothered your stomach lining and intestines and they need time to recover from the trauma. I'd stick to bland foods like soft-boiled or scrambled eggs, non-acid fruits, broths, rice, etc. until you feel like eating something else. Just make sure you get enough fluids and don't worry about the eating part unless it gets really bad, in which case you should go back to the doctor.
Try to eat things that won't upset your stomach and drink lots of fluids.
man! so sorry! i had food poisoning once, however it didn't last that long at all. we kinda just treated like the flu: gatorade, 7up, cambells soup. how sure are you that it's food poisoning? mine only lasted a few days.
Food poisoning causes serious issues in the GI tract. try a liquid diet for a day or two, then go to a soft diet {such as mashed potatoes etc.} for a week. if your bowels seem to get back to normal then advance to heavier foods. Stay away from fried, fast food and so on until you feel like your back to normal. you may want to pick up a 6 pack of Ensure or Boost to hold you over nutrionally until your feeling better. I am not a dr, but I would give this another week and then call his office if your still not feeling yourself or are running a fever. Good luck
Food poisoning is a very harmful thing, as you know. Your body is not used to it, may even not be immune to it, so you are adjusting to it and recovering. It will be about 1 week probably to get back to normal, if even that. Eat light and well, things such as apple sauce, fruit-possibly, drink alot of water. Those would be my suggestions

Recommendation for a good GP?
I usually prefer word-of-mouth recommendations . . .
Am in search of a good General practioner in the Sydney (Australia) area, Sutherland preferrably.
Please advise why you think this GP is good.
Much appreciated.
Answer:
talk to pharmacists or pharmaceutical reps. they know more than you think. ask them who they go to.
also look at the partners of the dr that you are planning to see. if you are a patient and have a problem at night or on the weekend, you will be treated by the doctor on call. your dr may be great but if their partners are quacks, you may want to look elsewhere.

Recertification for CPR?
I was certified to give CPR and my card I got issued from the American Red Cross is about to expire. Where can I go to renew my certification? Will I have to go through the whole written test and doing a test on a dummy? How much will is cost for me to get recertified for CPR? My card is going to expire at the 1st of the month. Please help me. Or can I wait to get recertified when I attend nursing school?
Answer:
yeah, you can be re-certified in nursing school...it will cost you around $30 (it does in Iowa)...you will not have to do the whole written test unless it expires, it depends when you attend nursing school, or if you have a YMCA, go there.
you can be recertified once in nursing school bc the certification u prob have isnt for healthcare providers anyway-
just wait-
You can wait. Or you can go to an American Red Cross near you and ask for details. I know mine is going to expire sometime soon. Let me know :] !
Unless you need the CPR certification for employment purposes, I would wait until you started nursing school. You can get recertified there.
as long as you aren't a lifeguard, noone is going to say "hey, you, you aren't certified, stop saving that life"
Not sure about nursing school but you can call the red cross or your local fire department for a recert class.
Good luck.
I agree with Jen...and usually you'll get a great discount going through the school.
Good luck with studying!
Anytime you recert for cpr you have to take the test an do cpr on a dummy, If you are going to have to take it in nursing school just wait till then you dont have to be certified in cpr to perform cpr on someone. If you are not certified you are covered under the good Samaritan act
You can call the American Red Cross and find a location near you for an upcoming recertification class. You shouldn't have to take the entire class over, you should just have to recertify. This is a much shorter class and usually quite cheaper. I would do it now. If you wait until you are in nursing school (if it is a while off) you will have to take the entire course again. It is easier to recertify.
What you do is you go to www.cprtoday.com , you can take it onlineand it will also print it out for you if you dont have time to wait for it in the mail.. All you have to do is put it on a credit/debit card, i believe it cost only 29.95 ...
good luck

Recently I had 2 huge abscesses on my arms and finally they had both popped under the pressure.?
yeah so these nasty abscesses of mine couldn't take the pressure, or maybe my skin couldn't so they burst like a volcanic zit and started to ooze out a lovely red/yellow -mustard/ketchup blend of funky cheese badness, it was really quite amusing to watch, I should have posted it on utube. so anyway now that they have died down and only a few remnants of the bacterial civilization remain, what do I do to make sure that it doesn't rise from the ashes? Is there some other topical cream to use other than neosporin or other things like it, like maybe honey or camel piss? but seriously please let me know so I can end this biblical infection..thanks...y'all.f...
Answer:
You should be an author..very descriptive.
It sounds to me like you really need to see a doctor - your condition seems serious enough to consult a professional - I'm surprised you didn't before - or did you? either way go to a doctor to make sure everything is okay.
Go to the dermatologist to get some antibiotics. Don't play around with this. If you get a fever, go to the emergency room as you could have MRSA the very serious staph infection.
um there this cream at wal-mart called anitbacterial or antifungal cream.. i suggest you try that my bestfriend gets those all the time and she uses one of those creams instead of neosporin...

RECENT: salvia messing you up.?
i thought it was regular old weed. this was only my third time smoking weed but i knew instantly nothing was ok. i couldnt function, i was scared to function and so i went into the tent and tried to sleep. and thats when i died. everyting began to sway. and i felt myself leaving my body and leving eart.h. i thought it was a trippy dsort of dream until apsolute panic set in. and i began falling down a gray and black tube. but before i fell down the hole/tube i seen a flash forward of my death and the paramedic that took me out of the tent when i died. is the same guy who helped me in the ambulance. and i dont know how to email you from on here if you could help me to do so thatd be cool
Answer:
His Almighty will help you .
Yea bro same **** happened to me, I had an out of body experience. Salvia is 20x more potent than mushrooms, but only lasts a brief period. It was not responsible for your friend to dose you if you thought it was weed. It is only enjoyable if your mind is prepared and you can expect some of the trip you will experience.
wow dude, you really got messed up. Take it easy and quit taking drugs!
No matter who you are or where ya are, there is someone in the world that cares about you. I hope that you can find whatever you are looking for by living. Please don't kill yourself off with drugs before you've had a chance to truly live. Your life is a blessing, and you must treat it as such in order to reap the full reward.

Really want to quit smoking. Need some suggestions from those who quit!?
I have my first cigarette within 3 minutes of waking up in the morning. Cup of coffe and a cigarette. (It's disgusting and I know it!). Those of you who have quit, how did you stop that first cigarette of the day? I want to start tapering off and begin taking Chantix. If I can postpone that first cigarette that in itself would be an accomplishment! So, what did you do when you got up instead of smoking? (and don't tell me to stay in bed lol)
Answer:
Chantix worked for me. You can still smoke for the first week you take it. I figured it out and timed it so I had my last smoke at bedtime the night before my second week started. Then I used gum (regular, not nicotine), sunflower seeds, and Tootsie Pops as substitutes. It was a challenge, but I'm nearly six months smoke free so far. Just make sure after you have that last one that you don't have any more smokes around. I went so far as to get rid of all my ashtrays and empty all the ones in the vehicles as well. Get rid of as much temptation as you can because you will get cravings. I still get them now, but a plain old stick of gum is all I need to take care of it. Best of luck to you!!
Patch or chew a piece of nicotine gum instead to help. Nicotine gum or the patch is healthier than smoking. Start with one cigarette at a time. Replace 1 cigarette a week with a piece of nicotine gum and then cut down as you feel ready.
Quiting smoking is really hard. I went on the patch at first. Don't waste your time though, it doesn't work. Take the medicane that's what helped me. And when you start taking it, you don't have cravings. Yes, you will think about it because it's routine now, but just control and don't smoke. There's no point. Good luck !
i have no idea but if you find a way please tell me so i can get my boyfriend to quit
Do something else when you first wake up. Like talk a short wake then take a shower. Turn that negative into a positive.
chew gum instead, also use patches.
i haven't quit yet but i've been close. you need to be very consious of what you're doing. i've actually forgotten that i was trying to quit b/c it was such habit. try putting a note for yourself over your cigarettes before you go to bed reminding yourself to wait 10 minutes before you light up. or make a small list of things to do before you can have a cigarette. brush teeth, make coffee, take shower, etc. when you've waited the alotted time, pat yourself on the back and try waiting 5 more minutes. also, smoke only outside. pitch the ashtrays too. i wish you all the luck you need. i'm going to start the chantix myself soon. hope it works for you.
I have been smoke free for almost 3years. I've tried the nicotine gum nasty and patch are expensive. the pills I tried as well and had to stop taking them got one of the severe side affects. the best way I found I tried several times with out sucess but kepted trying. you have to prepare yourfelf mentally. then one day it will happen and you will make it. I went through a lot of chewing gum and hard candy, drink alot of water to flush your body. exercise also helped me as well. plus having friends and family helping along the way. the best way is just put them down. Good luck and best wishes
What you did is reinforcing yourself to smoke. Smoking is not a habit but 100 of habits:
1. you smoke at the morning
2. when you have coffee
3.yada yada
try not to smoke at morning first, then go to before coffee.
Maybe not taking cofee will help, change to other beverage.
reward urself if you can quit one habit.
Good luck.
Use Chantix when you get up. For more Chantix information, click the following link: http://www.121doc.com/champix.html?a_aid...

Really sick grandma i need like a craft to make to help cheer up her hospital room...?
shes really sick and we dont ahve time to go to te store nor do we hve like flowers in our yard or anyhting so please help!!!
Answer:
You've got some pretty severe limitations there.
Have you tried making her a card or two? Perhaps you can search the web for a nice inspirational piece of poetry and print that off. And if you have trees in the yard, use their leaves to make rubbings to decorate it.
Good luck to your grandma, Honey.
Just been there helps people becuase they wont be bored with you there.
home made cards can make a dull room very cheery.
You can make a get well soon card with glitter if you have some tissue paper and colored paper along with a pipe cleaner you can make your own flowers. All you have to do is cut out pieces to look like pedals than twist the pipe cleaner around the pedals and glue on green paper leafs. Put them in a vase with marbles. It looks cute i did that for my mother for mothers day when i was younger. I hope this helped a little

Really Low Confidence.?
I have really low confidence, and it's affecting everything I do. I'm 18 years old, I'm quite smart but decided to leave school because of my confidence problem. I've had 4 jobs in the last 2 years but I've quit all of them. I have noticed a problem with my speech too, I don't speak fast or slow, or stutter, I just can't get my words out proply. After reading some stuff from google, I think I have social anxiety... but I'm not sure. I sweat every time im in company with other people and get really nervous. There are a few expections like my girlfriend, I'm fine around her.
Whenever I get money I spend it on alcohol, this seems to solve the problem, I can speak better whilst drunk than sober. I'm really depressed at the moment, I want to do something with my life, but this problem is stopping me. I really want to go in the British army to do IT %26 Communications, but I'm worried how I'd cope with people around me all the time. *sm days i feel lik i cn do anythin, an othr days i feel crap
Answer:
cut the boose, get a hobby...
and this is a joke to cheer you up: have EGO waffles!
Please speak to a counselor or other mental health professional. Masking social anxiety with alcohol is regrettably common, but does nothing to reduce the root problem.
Not all people with social anxiety need medication -- you may be OK with just therapy. In any case, it's a matter for the pros.

REALLY BAD HEADACHE -- please HELP!!?
ive got rely bad headache, started last night, still here today
missed wrk coz of it.
its around the forehead part, and above my left eye.
please help
Answer:
That sounds like a migraine. Ibuprofen always does the trick for me. Also, drinking some strong coffee and taking a couple of aspirin can be effective. The combination of caffeine and aspirin is supposed to be good against normal headaches.
Drink water but a wet cloth on your head and relax with no noise..
get a heat pack and put it on your neck, and take some pain killers and anti inflamatories,
not alot else you can do really.
when I get Migranes I tend to just try to sleep them off
Take a painkiller and try to rest in a dark place. From http://aches.in/headache.html
To get rid of a head ach u just rub your head with a nice warm towl. You can also take an asprine. Idk if i spelled it right you should get some rest too!! that wll help it!
Sounds like a migraine. You need a cool, dark, quiet room to relax. If you have an eye mask use that, if not try a cool damp washcloth over your eyes. Plus, if you get nauseous just give in and vomit, you will feel better.
It sounds like a sinus headache. They can get really bad for me sometimes, especially when I stand up. I take a Tylenol and the pain usually goes away within about 15 minutes.
Im a chronic migraine sufferer, try this little tip from my doctor, take a brown paper lunchbag, hold it over your nose %26 mouth, breathe in and out SLOWLY about 5 times. It really works. Feel Better Soon!

REALLY bad case of throat problem??temporarily?
my head feels heavy and my throat hurts when i swallow.it feels as if someone run a razor on it otherwise...i live alone. its too early for any doctor to be open.any quick-fix i can comeup with at home tht can help me feel a bit better atleast temporarily. gargling i know.
Answer:
Sounds like an infection for sure--could be strep especially if you are running a fever.
An anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen--400mg--would be good. Also, chloraseptic spray is good for pain relief.
No chloraseptic, make some salt water rinse--just dissolve salt in water and swirl it about like you said--gargle. Don't use mouthwash, the alcohol will make things worse.
Watch it closely, you'll probably need antibiotics right away. Watch that temperature.
In between times, try some ice chips--should give some relief and will keep you hydrated.
Sorry you are doing poorly.
salt with warm water and gargle
hot tea works for me until i can see a doctor.
hot tea with sugar or honey
steam - rub hot water in the sink, then place your head over the sink and use a towel over your head to make a little tent and breathe slow and deep in throught the nose out through the mouth for 5 minutes - once it is steaming you can plug the sink and fill it up and shut off the water and just keep breathing the steam
maybe drinking tea or something warm will help soothe your throat. if you got chloroseptic you can spray it down your throat and it will usually numb it. my parents use to give me a little bit of whiskey to numb my gums for the pain, maybe you can try that for your throat? not sure about that one but the tea and chloroseptic helps on short notice when theres no way of getting to a doctor.
Yes. Gargling with warm salt water. If you have a cold. The sore throat will only last in the mornings. The glands could be swollen, tho. I don't know, I am not a doctor. You could have strep throat. Check your throat for white spots on the back of your tonsils. In lamens terms. The back means the hanging thing and look to the right and left of it. Sore throat unless is it strep is very temporary. A good gargle of salt water or even apple cider vinegar diluted in water. Cider seems to take care of bacteria. If you have a cold. The sore throat could be due to open mouth because of obstructed nasal passages. Suck on a halls or a vitamin C drop in the morning. It will create saliva and soothe the throat. If you experience, a sore throat that is not being relieved by methods after a few days, time to see your physician.
Asprin or Tylenol taken internally may help. Gargling with salt and warm water, as you mentioned is the best way.
But when the Doctor does reopens on Monday, if your throat is still sore, you should see the Doctor. They may not prescribe anything because it is not strep throat. But a sore throat that lasts more than two days should always be examined by a Physician. The nature of the Strep has become more serious over the course of the last ten years.
Strepsils or Cepracal are the only two other temporary treatments I would recommend. Both have a pain numbing ingredient and and an antiibacterial agent that can slow the disease's progress but are not cures and you still should see a Doctor.
Go to your doctor. There is a possibility that it is strep throat. Look for the tell tale white blisters at the back of your throat and rosy colors on your tongue. In the mean time, anything cool will help soothe your throat. Good Luck!
Actually, if you'd like to know what you may have,
I would check this site http://symptoms.webmd.com/
You can search by symptoms.
If your throat hurts, gargle warm salt water. If your nose is running that could be the cause of the razor feeling, try to take something for your nose if that's the case.
there are many kinds of headaches and throat aches, I'd need more specifics but I'd say if its a throbbing headache, and it makes your face feel hot, put a cold washcloth on it.
If its a dull headache, drink some hot tea believe it or not. the warmth from tea's like mint (I'd recommend) is good for the throat especially with honey, and mint is a great bodily cleanser and bacteria fighter, one of the top in fact.
hope that helps!
Nice hot Theraflu..found at Walmart, and most drug stores. some Walmarts are open 24 hours. and I gargle with warm salt water many times !

Real life- life threatening stories?
can anyone give me exciting scenarios for when CPR is needed, such as 11 year old male falling off treehouse, unconsious assumed spinal injury, as many as possible please, esspecialy personal stories from experience. Thanks
Answer:
:
Scenario 1:
About 10 years ago my neighbour rang me to tell me he was worried about his wife and could I visit (it was about 1am). I arrived to find her unconscious in her bed. She was on her back vomting - he thought she may have taken something to try to commit suicide. She had also have 2 big glasses of overproof cooking spirits. She started to vomit and was choking - we rolled her on to her side and she vomited repeatedly.
We had called an ambulance by this time.
While waiting for the ambulance she stopped breathing.
We lay her on the floor (needed a hard surface) and couldnt find a pulse in her neck. He was a pilot so he had done first aid.
We started compressions on her chest and he did the breathing part (I wasnt going to breathe into her mouth after she has puked!). This went on for a little while and she started to wake up just as the ambulance arrived. She had a major reaction to the alcohol and this had caused her to stsop breathing and after her heart stopped.
She was taken to hospital and placed on a ventilator. She ended up being fine.
Scenario 2:
Was working in the hospital - pt complained of being dizzy and feeling breathless - I got her some oxygen and grabbed a doctor. She said she needed to do a poop but as she sat up she had diarrhoea which was full of blood.
Her blood clotting ability wasnt working and she was having a major bleed into her bowel and stomach.
She was vomiting blood and the blood dairrhoea continued.
She became unconscious very quickly - we started CPR but she was losing blood too quickly to replace. We gave her lots of transfusions and fluids into her veins but it made no difference. She died from exsanguation (lost all her blood). No point doing CPR if there is no blood to pump around the body.
Scenario 3:
I was at an outdoor market when an old man fell down on the ground unconscious. Another person (a bystander) and I did CPR untiul the ambulance arrived but he died at the hospital.
His heart had a rythym problem and it became so bad that it finally went into a rythym that killed him.
knew a girl who drowned once and was saved by CPR.

heart attack...
It was about 3am and I was driving home from a bar in Hollywood and there was an accident on the freeway that just happened like 5 minutes ago. All the lanes were blocked and we were all forced to drive on the right emergency lane. As soon as I passed by the wreck there was this small two door sports car flipped over and the driver laying on the floor unconscious with another person who I think was involved in the accident giving him CPR. That was probably one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.
A mother's little girl (possibly 3 or 4 years old) was supposedly following her while they were walking on a pool deck. The mother kept on walking, not knowing that something has happened to her daughter. She turned around to pick up her daughter, and realized that she wasn't there. Her daughter had fallen into the pool just near the wall, but she hadn't seen her. No one had seen what happened, so it was as if nothing happened. The mother searched frantically and eventually found her daughter just under the surface of the water at the side of the wall. She pulled her daughter out, she wasn't breathing, so she called the life guard. CPR saved her life.
*True story
lol once me and my friend made fun of a guy in a house while in P.E. and then he puled out a sniper rifle and me and my friend ran behind a classroomand went to see if he put the sniper away and he did then he thretened me and my friend about killing us lol its kinda funny thinking about it and it was a loaded gun while he was talking to us he was taking out the amo
CPR is a skill not a thrill ride
I was coaching Level 1 swim lessons at the pool one day a few years back, when a 3-year old somehow managed to swim away into the deeper end of the pool without my assistant and I noticing. When we realized she was missing, we found her in the 8 feet splashing around and obviously drowning. We immediately got the other children out of the pool and went to get her. We got her out of the pool and she wasn't breathing. We used CPR on her (the way you should for younger children), and after I breathed int her mouth twice, she coughed up the water and for the most part was fine after that.

Real bad headache?
ive had this killer headache for abuot 2 hours now. and about an hour ago i took aleve. and it didnt work. does anyone know of something else that i can do to stop the headache?
Answer:
Try a migraine medication, for me, aspirin, Tylenol, all that doesn't help headaches, and most times,, headaches for me turn into migraines, if I don't take the migraine med.
i always use Forehead.you may have seen it advertised on tele.it comes in stick form like a lipbalm and you rub it all over your forehead.it contains a powerfull painkiller and it smells of menthol.it works for me every time even for migraines as i cant take tablets as i always throw up.
you can buy it at the chemist and also at some supermarkets like Asda or Wilkinsons.it costs around 5 to 6 quid and lasts for ages so its cheaper than buying tablets all the time.
Try putting pressure on some reflex points in the toes. If a friend can help you do this while you relax it is best. Securing the toes with one hand, use the thumb of the other hand to put little pressure "bites" on the underside of the toes, especially the big toe. Peppermint oil is excellent if you would like a more natural approach to helping your headache. Take a couple of drops and place it on the location. Take care to keep it away from your eyes.
visit 30minutedetox.com for more info on reflexology and the oils for future use.
I hope that this helps you.

Re: medicaid/medicare--mother is 81 and legally blind; is she eligible for nursing home benefits?
Answer:
Medicare does not pay for long term care benefits. They will pay for short term care (less than 100 days) if the doctor certifies she needs skilled nursing and otherwise qualifies. If she has a Medicare Advantage plan she can get 100 days without any qualifiers but may have to pay a portion.
Medicaid does pay for long term care. To qualify she needs to meet the income and asset limitations (each state is different). The state will count her assets such as cash, stocks, bonds, investments and retirement plans and some cash value life insurance. They will require her to use those assets to pay for the care and will require she use any income over a certain amount. They will not count (nor take) her home, household furnishings, car, wedding ring or burial plan in most cases but may place a lien on the property at death.
If she has a long term care insurance policy she can receive benefits up to the policy limits.
It depends upon the size of her estate. If she owns a house, for instance, that might be enough to disqualify her. You should seek the advice of an attorney who is well versed in this area of the law.
Yes, if she has trouble with "daily living" activities. For instance, does she need help bathing? dressing? eating? walking or getting around? Taking medication? That's the acid test for whether care is needed in a nursing home.
Re.SMOKING BAN: I'm a non-smoker, but am going to miss passive smoking when at the pub. Anyone feel the same?
Answer:
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
miss having my lungs, hair and clothes filled with the stench of stale smoke?
Certainly not me!
Passive smoking can actually be more dangerous than smoking a few cigarettes a day as can be seen from the above question! You require a deaddiction as much as a heavy smoker does!
don't worry you can go outside in the beer garden with the smokers.
Watch the council tax increase...every corner of every street, outside every shop, office and pub will be mounds of *** butts (for the americans out there...this is not offensive..means cigarrette ends), local councils will have to employ extra cleaners, resulting in boosted council tax bills.
No, smoking stinks.
NO!
In that case, you're probably not really a 'non-smoker'. Missing something is the other side of wanting something, and if you want nicotine - then you want nicotine! I suspect that as you're not actually smoking cigarettes it won't take you too long to overcome this when you don't have it any longer. Just don't be tempted to light up to get the fix!
I did when I first gave up, but I found that going to the pub with a smoky atmosphere just made it more difficult, so now I don't go to the pub either. You know what? At æ‹¢2.50 a pint, I'm saving quite a bit there too! How anyone can afford to get pissed these days I don't know. It costs more than 40 cigs a day.
Yeah, me too - I'm gonna miss it about as much as I would miss having no hole in my ar*se!!
Same here. I'm not a smoker but I will defo miss it
I do a lot of singing in pubs and clubs and it will be sheer bliss not to have to inhale other peoples filthy smoke every time I take a breath. Not to mention the stench of smoke in my hair, clothes and on my equipment when I get home. Smokers have had it their own way for too long. I don't have a problem with people killing themselves by smoking if they wish to do so, but I don't want to suffer because of their stupid and selfish habit. I like a drink myself and provided I don't drink and drive or get so drunk that my behaviour becomes a problem to other people, the only person I'm harming is myself. If smokers want to smoke they should do it in a place where the residue of their pleasure doesn't affect other people. After all I don't go and p1ss on other people when I've had a drink and I don't really see a difference.
if the goverment dont like it they should have banned it completly..oops no they would miss the revenue ..so they want us to buy them not smoke them...hmmmm i hear the sound of hypocrasy and anyway cars give off far more pollution than ciggies and i dont stop you driving past me incase i passively inhale noxious exhaust gasses.. ohh well we moan but it dont change nothing well all have to huddle under patio heaters like social outcasts!! have fun all !!
No. If you like passive smoking so much, just find a friendly smoker and a small enclosed private space. There is no law against poisonous smoke transmission between consenting adults.
NO WAY, GET A GRIP! (Thanks for the points.)
A very famous John McEnroe comment springs to mind and would be very appropriate as an answer to this question. lol
Er, let me think... No!
NO!
You are an idiot!
errr...NO!
I've been a non-smoker for a while now :) and people say that when you stop, you enjoy passive smoking...
But not for me - I don't crave it anymore and I don't even miss the smell - I actually feel sick when I smell it now. It's great to feel that even your own body rejects the smell of something that is only there to destroy you.
I think this ban is great news - campaigners go on about freedom for smokers, but now we have freedom for non-smokers for the first time in donkeys years - it something worth appreciating!
I went to a non-smoking pub in Putney, London the other night and had the most wonderful time - came back smoke free... it was soooo lovely. Remember, it's the company, not the smoke, that makes a good time.
Bring on the smoking ban!
I will really miss the smell on my clothes next morning. Lets you know you have had a good night out. Plus its a good way of having all the benefits of having a smoke without having to pay for them.
p.s. For all the literal people who answered like idiots - that was irony - like the question
I will miss the atmosphere of the mixed smokers and non smokers that make each person individual as it is there choice to make I am a non smoker and never have tried it it just never took my fancy to try but I have alot of friends some of which choose to smoke I have always noticed that the ex-smokers complain where as not so many of us non smokers(ppl that never had) don't tend to so much I think mainly that the ex-smokers complain mostly due to them still having the craving and most when drinking a nice pint want to have a cigarette but can't because they have told everyone that they quit and hate the smell but secretly want one?? so to sum up yes I will miss it alot of my friends say that they would prefer to stay in and have a drink now that they are being out casted by the non smoking ban in force...

Raw Butt Crack?
I'm sorry to be so blunt about this but my butt crack is red, raw, and scabby. I had diahhrea for about 2 weeks and all the wiping has left it like this. I have tried neosporin and destin (for diaper rash). It hurts so bad and is bloody when I wipe. What can I do??
Answer:
It's past desitin or any kind of diaper ointment. You don't have to see a doctor. Keep it clean and over the next week possibly 2 (should feel better in a few days) use CLOTRIMAZOLE on it. You have developed a yeast or fungal infection which is REALLY common almost like jock itch. That area doesn't breath well, so with all the wiping and bacteria it was bound to happen! Apply it after you clean with soap and water at least in the morning and at night. You CAN put some desitin over it if it makes you more comfortable. It may sting a little at first, but I promise it will work. You can buy it at any pharmacy and there are always generic brands. I believe the name brand is LOTRIMIN AF.
Good luck and don't fret. It will feel better soon and it happens to the best!
give it time and use wet wipes like for babys
Wipe with a moist towel, moist tissue paper or a non-alcohol baby wipe. Maybe you could try bactene?
Also, you should not have diarehaa for 2 weeks. Have you considered going to the doctor?
Go to the Doctor or put baby powder on it. Take care!
hahah, question of the day! nice work.
Try an ointment called "Triple paste". You have to ask the pharmacist for it--it's expensive but it's used for babies and it's great.
Before you use it, take a warm bath with baking soda to neutralize any acid remaining. Then, particularly if you have the privacy, give it a good air drying--then apply the Triple Paste.
You'll be better right away.
Good luck and I hope you feel better.
Corn starch as a powder.
Use moist wipes or wash with water.
You really need to see a doctor. It isn't normal to have scabbing even after 2 weeks of diarrhea. The doctor can prescribe a stronger topical painkiller as well as an oral one.
Please see a doctor soon. I'm sure they would see you today. You don't want to risk any more of an infection that you possibly have already because then your problems are going to get much, much worse.
See a doctor. You are now to the realm of needing a prescription. You have probably developed a serious infection that could easily spread and worsen your condition even further. It is also not good that you had diahhrea for so long...the combination sounds like some internal problem that is manifesting in ways that clearly need a doctors attention. I understand your need for reassurance from any source possible, but take advice given several times already..GO SEE A DOCTOR%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;NOW!

Answer:
Sounds like you have a vaginal infection. Just go to the womens section in walmart or another store and get you some anti-fungal cream. It doesnt take a prescription to buy. If that doesnt work, your gonna need to be seen by a doctor. You could have contracted an std from someone or you could have something else. I will tell you that if you sweat down there, alot, it could be a heat rash or from moisture. If thats the case, wear looser clothes and Id start wearing underwear liners.change them out everytime you go to the bathroom so your not staying moist.
not sure.please ask your doctor
Too loveable perhaps? Seriously, see a gynocologist.
OMG IT S A FULL BLOWN CASE OF ITHER HERPIES OR HIV
Get some 1% hydrocortisone anti-itch creme with aloe and vitamin E. You can buy the store brand. I had a heat rash and it worked like magic.
Sounds like Trich which is a STD any way you could have been exposed to a STD.

Quitting smoking:...have your tried chantix?
I am 48 days into it and after having tried everything to quit, this actually seems to be the ticket, please share your story and how long you took the chantix, I am told 12 weeks is the norm, I am so thrilled to be kicking this 35 year habbit, if you still smoke, at least check into it...please share your story if you have one..thanks and have a great day!
Answer:
Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away.
And to have lots of water, and the nicotine will wash out
Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover
have faith
what is chantix exactly and where can i get it??
did you try anythig else??
I actually managed to do it cold turkey. It was hard as hell though.
You're rite it works, (prescription, ask your doc)-- kicked a
47 year habit -- been non-stinky for about 3 months now
and don't have the urge. My doc sez it works with something
between the ears
Chantix is an excellent way to quit smoking with few side effects. For more Chantix information, click the following link: http://www.121doc.com/champix.html?a_aid...

Quitting Smoking... HELP?
I've gone one day. ONE DAY!
Some words of encouragement, or anything you made of heard when you gave up.
CHEERS!
Answer:
i am on my second day. its tough mate i know but keep going cos you will only hate yourself if you light up. Find that inner strength and dont be beaten by the dreaded weed
well done. Look at it as just hour by hour, if you can sleep for 6-10 hours without a ***, you can while your awake.... good luck, keep it up. xx Christ, I only said F A G .
try and avoid being near people who smoke. Its tough going, I know, so good luck! I tried plenty of times before and only gave them up when I fell pregnant... but i'm back on them now! My husband smokes so I was constantly lusting after his cigarettes.
well done on giving up when I gave up I put the money in a jar each day that I would use to buy cigarettes and focused on something I wanted and when I had enough money in the jar I bought it. This really helped me maybe it could help you to. Good luck and keep being strong you can do it.
well done!! - iam on day 2 (again) - have patches and gum and they are working really well. did you know that the oxygen in your blood returns to normal levels after one day (so you have more energy and a clearer mind) and that the nicotine is out of your body in 48hrs - now doesnt that make you feel good - if you feel you are weakening, brush your teeth, in the few minutes that it takes to do it the craving will be gone and you will have a nice fresh taste in your mouth - keep at it - you can do it !! - think of all the money you will save
It is the hardest thing to do. When you have a craving, try to keep in mind that it will probably pass quickly, do something to try to distract yourself from the thought of smoking. Get up and walk around, stretch, chew a piece of gum.
I quit almost 3 years ago. You are going to feel so much healthier in a couple months. When you hit the one-month mark, you can reward yourself by buying a new CD or something. Good luck, be strong!
i gave up 5 months ago. just remind yourself why you're stopping. you need to think of it as letting go of a disgusting habit. i know how hard it is, i still get cravings when i've been drinking. all i can say is well done and good luck.x
Keep asking and answering on Yahoo! Has done wonders for me! Keep it up and good luck!
Anyone who has stopped smoking is doing brilliant, I take my hat off to you all.
Take it one day at a time and don't look to far ahead, just tell yourself that you are not going to have a cigarette today. Tell yourself that every day.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE WHO HAS JUST STOPPED SMOKING
talk to someone pref a friend who's also quitting. i stopped 4yrs ago after smoking for over 40 yrs!
i read Allan Carr's book how to stop smoking . best thing i ever did. i know that i will never smoke again and yet i do not object to others that do. it's a great feeling which you too can achieve so good luck
Just have the will power and know that your mind is strongre than any drug.
Good job on quitting too, tobacco is a very harmful drug.
Keep it up mate, you can and will do it!
Stick a message on my 360 if you need a chat as talking does help!
the first 2 weeks are the hardest-take it one day at a time-dont tell yourself "ive stopped" just say ok just for today i wont smoke-do this every day-good luck
well done - keep pushing through any weak moments. Remind yourself why you are giving up, visualise your body already beginning to rid itself of the rubbish you have put into it for so long. The first day is the worst, just keep thinking if I get through another day, that wil be two days, and so on. Don't give in!. I stopped nearly six months ago - I tried so many times and I still can't believe that I have done it - I really can't stand the smell of it now!. Good luck. x

Quiting Smoking?
Is there certain foods/drinks that I should avoid when quiting smoking?
Like I have heard that caffeine will make my urges to smoke more... Is this true?
Also will drinking lots and lots of water help clear my system of the nicotine and help with the urges?
What kinds of foods/drinks will help me Quit?
Answer:
Drink lots of water. There is a breathing technique I used when I quit smoking which helped a lot.
Take in a deep breath slowly counting to five.
Slowly exhale while counting to five.
The head rush you will feel is the same as taking a hit from a cigarette. The withdrawal will disappear and you will not want to smoke because it will feel like you just had a cigarette.
do drink lots of water
keep a lot of sugar free gum handy
Only avoid items that previously made you want to smoke
lastly, dont keep alot of sweets around, as you will have the munchies (which is why you keep lots of gum)
Good Luck, ive been without for 3 months and 12 days,
the 1st week - 10 days SUCK, after that it gets soooo Much Better!
Definitely stay away from alcohol - it really brings up the urge to smoke. Caffeine will also increase urges. I found that carrots, peanuts %26 sunflower seeds helped. Every time I wanted to smoke, I ate them %26 this gave me the oral gratification I was looking for %26 also gave me something to do with my hands. Hard candy works too but I've heard of so many people that gained weight %26 got cavities this way.
The first week or two is the hardest - I thought I was having a heart attack for a while but I've been smoke-free since December!
i have the same problem if i drink alchol it usually makes you crave for nicoteen more but yeah drink plenty :) and gud luck
Actually even though you equate coffee with a cigarette. I would not give them up at the same time. Quit smoking and drink more coffee. I quit smoking 12 years ago and I drink 5 or 6 cups of coffee a day. A way to feel like you just smoked is this simple breathing technique. Inhale deeply through your nose. Exhale slowly through pursed lips. It's like holding your breath while blowing air out slowly. when you have completely emptied your lungs breathe naturally and you will have raised your heart rate sufficiently and you will have the effects of a cigarette physically and your craving will abate temporarily. The carbon monoxide is gone in 24 hours and your lungs begin the cleansing process and will be normal after 10 years. Try some mints to curb your cravings too. But most foods are something you eat just before you smoke or in between smokes. But stay away from cigarettes for 2 weeks and then the cravings will start to subside. Good luck.

Quit smoking pill chantix?
My doctor gave me a prescribes and said that this pill is really good that allot of people have quit smoking using it even if they did not have a strong desire to quit, Has anyone on here ever used it and does it really work that good.
Answer:
My father smoked for over 45 years, two months ago he had to go to the hospital and they gave him that and he hasn't smoked since. That being said he still had the grumpy withdrawal symptom, but other than that it was smooth for him. I'm thinking about trying it myself.
I know that my uncle who was an obnoxious smoker (like 3 packs a day) for the last 50 years.
he has been smoke free for 2 months.
It sure does work, at least so far. I had smoked for decades, and started using Chantix two months ago. As per the directions, I stopped on the 7th day after starting to take the pills, and haven't had a cigarette in about two months now. The main factor is that the pills seem to cut down on the intensity of the desire to have a cigarette, so that you can fairly easily say "no thanks" whenever the urge hits. Hope this helps.
we've had several patients try it and swear by it. they say they loose the urge to smoke. One lady even said when she's out in the bar she doesn't even have an urge to smoke. I think we've given it to at least a dozen patients and from what I know all of them have quit on it. Good luck!
Chantix is an excellent way to quit smoking. For more Chantix information, click the following link: http://www.121doc.com/champix.html?a_aid...

Quit smoking pill chantix?
My doctor gave me a prescribes and said that this pill is really good that allot of people have quit smoking using it even if they did not have a strong desire to quit, Has anyone on here ever used it and does it really work that good
Answer:
A relative of mine that was smoker for years (like 20) just quit using it. I hear it's a miracle drug! Good luck :)
my mom used it.
it made her sick
she didnt stop smoking.
my girlfriend used it and loved it! worked almost instantly
Take a friend im your house. Lock yourself in your room as soon as you feel the urge and give her the key. You will go crazy but it works.
I have not used it but I know from witnessing multiple patient that it is the best thing out there right now. Wellbutrin use to be the best pill for quitting smoking but Chantix was shown to be about 25% more effective. It is worth a shot!
What do you have to lose?
my dad and aunt went and got their ears stapled because that was supposed to "make them quit smoking" which it didnt. My aunt got put on the meds a little while back but didnt work for her. She said she could tell a small difference in the first couple days but after that she was back to normal and shes not a heavy smoker either.
I haven't taken Chantix, but a coworker of mine has taken it for about 2 months. He said that he was really nauseous the first few days he took it, but that the nausea did go away. From what I can tell, he still smokes as much as he did when he started taking it two months ago.
I would venture to guess that if someone did a study they'd find that the level of desire to quit (please don't confuse desire with willpower... I don't think it's a willpower thing) a person has will have just as much, if not more, to do with success as stop-smoking aids.
Chantix is an excellent way to quit smoking. For more Chantix information, click the following link: http://www.121doc.com/champix.html?a_aid...

Quit smoking a week and a half before surgery. will i have a problem with the general anesthetic?
Answer:
You should discuss this with your doctor. He or she is the only one who could give you the best answer. Good luck : )
no you should be fine, don't smoke for 2 weeks after your surgery either, the only reason is because after surgery if you smoke and cough it hurts more.
I stopped on the morning of my surgery - a hernia in the groin. I had my last cigarette about 2 hours before I went under the knife. I also had a slight cold. So when I woke after the op I was soon coughing and spluttering and suffering great pain in the area of my wound. I have only ever smoked on stage as an actor since then. Take this opportunity to give up for good. I hope you have given up in time. Good luck!
Quick cure for acid reflux symptoms?
I have acid reflux but some times run out of priloce is there any at home quik remedies?
Answer:
I have the same problem. Sorry man. Prilosec is the best thing I've found yet. If you have some Tums or Rolaids around they work for an hour or so at a time. A glass of milk helps for maybe an hour, but just a little.
I usually take Losec, but, if I'm out of Losec a drink of milk (chocolate or white) usually keeps the acid reflux at bay, until I can have my prescription filled.
avoid foods high in acid content.. %26 eat foods low in acid content to prevent reflux
Non-prescription -- Tums
Especially the tropical flavors, I eat those things like candy... thats not a bad thing is it?
I always make sure that I eat fresh cooked food, especially meat. No left overs; even if the left overs were cooked earlier that same day. Any food that was left out on the table more than 2 hours, gets thrown out. It definitely makes a difference in my diet.
Stop eating anything with wheat in it, eat only gluten free products, you will notice the diff in days.
Dont have tomatos. oranges, pineapples, onions. If you have anything with tomatos in it add 1/2 teaspoon bi carb soda to it. It will froth up but that is taking the acid out.
There is a special type of honey that you can buy from your local health food store. You take 1 teaspoon after eating. I don't know the name of it - but I know it works because my sister uses it - but she is on the east coast and I am on the west so it is really late there and I can't call her. But your local health food store should know. She said it works better than prescription drugs.

Queston about acne! please help. ignor # of replys.?
I remeber someone telling me food you eat effect acne, and then i read somewhere that it has nothing to do with acne, that acne is from dirt or w.e. which is right?
and i get it on my chest and back and its sooo annoying!
how can i make acne disapear fast? (1-2 weeks)
and no expensive items i should buy...i cant afford it right now.
Answer:
use the proactive system...you dont have to buy proactive..proactive sells you a set of 3 liquids...
1) Cleaner - (you can buy a cheap brand at wal mart) (get one with beads ..this helps with dead skin)
2) Toner - (again, buy a cheap brand at wal mart) (this helps dry out the pours..use a cotton ball and wipe in an upwards motions
3) Moisturizer - (once again, this is another one you can buy at wal mart)
do not just use lotion as a moisturizer...get an actual moisturizer, and you dont have to use the toner and moisturizer all over your body, just on problem spots...
i really want to know if this works for you, i got it out of GQ magazine and I used it and it worked wonders, but i dont know if this was just luck, so i want to know if it works
proactive works and you can get the whole kit for 19 dollars
if that is too much you can put toothpaste on the pimples and something in the toothpaste draws the infection to a head and you get rid of it faster.
there is no correlation between the type of food you eat and how many zits you get. as for removing it completely, its almost impossible to do in 1-2 weeks. Just keep your face clean and avoid anything greasy or oily on your face..and when you get new zits, dont pick at them, it makes it worse and takes longer to go away.
-proactive is a joke, you overpay for stuff you can get for 5 bucks at any store
Well if the foods you eat are filled with stuff that is bad for your body, I think that it can result in acne. That's why stuff with antioxidants in it are a good idea. Dirt clogging pores is also another reason. Acne comes mainly on the face, chest and back because those are the places where more oil is getting produced so they're more prone to acne. You can buy face and body washes at Walgreens or CVS. I use Neutrogena Body Clear Face Wash and Body Clear Body Wash, they work really well and you use them in the shower. I also went to a dermatologist and got Benzaclin and Differin which really help as well, and they're much more affordable if you have the insurance to cover it.
food doesn't really have an effect on acne because acne is a topical issue. the only way food could really affect it is if you ate something super greasy then touched your face with greasy fingers or something like that.
try looking for a product with the ingredient salicylic acid in it (spelling might be alittle off -- sorry). they tend to be cheap products and the acid will really strip away the affected layers of skin. it will start working in 1-2 weeks but because of the cycle of skin shedding we have it'll take a full month for absolutely ANY product to work for you. proactiv.com has solutions too but they might be expensive. don't take my word for it though...go to the website and see for yourself. make sure you are drinking lots of water (2-3liters a day) and that will help speed up the process.
there are lots of things the cause acne, so that question is hard to answer.
some common things that cause breakouts are:
Food you eat
Stress
Dirt/Oil/sweat on your face/back etc
Washing your face TO MUCH
trying to clear it up in 1-2 weeks with no expensive products will be hard...heres a couple sugguestions that are relatively inexpensive-
Natures Cure- combination pill and ointment %26lt;it works very well!%26gt;
Dove uncented bath bar- use it 2 times a day
if you have oily skin, try to clear the oil off your skin several times a day but not WASHING your face, just use a dry rag or something to get rid of the excess oil. try to limit your caffein intake, chocolate intake, fatty foods etc, those can cause acne. Reducing your stress can reduce acne. Make sure to shower after working out or swimming. Any time your body gets really sweaty or covers in dirt make sure you rinse off.
Sorry its kind of vague, but acne has different sources for different people, but it will clear up with age, and regular treatment.
oh and i forgot to mention drink LOTS OF WATER! it flushes out infection and toxins out of your body, some of which build up and create acne.
When I as in High School I had pretty bad acne. 26 now and I still get a breakout now and again. But two things I found that help. Nature's Cure. Its in the little box with the cream and the pills. The pills have some kind of medicine in it that helps but take it easy on the cream. It burns your skin if you use too much, too often. I used that for a year after I turned 18 and I havent had bad acne since. Now I use the tinted cream. It covers up alot of the red spots and it helps keep it away anyways
Tough without prescription stuff or Proactiv-type medicated products.
Try stuff with salicylic acid (sometimes called "beta hydroxy acids"), but don't go overboard because it can dry out your normal skin. Dab on hydrogen peroxide on the cysts--it can help kill the bacteria.
In general, try eating plenty of stuff from the Alliaceae family--onions, garlic, shallots, chives. They have sulfur compounds that might help your body's immune system, killing bacteria from the inside out. Plus they taste goooo-ooood. Eat the stuff raw for best results, but you can eat roasted/sauteed onions and garlic and still get some benefit. It's worth the stink!
Try clay masks, like Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque. Smells good, clay sucks stuff out of your pores.
For the record, acne is caused by a combination of excess oil in your oil glands and bacteria. The bacteria uses the oil for food and shelter (ugh, gross--I know), infecting the poor little oil glands and making acne cysts. This often occurs with the hormonal changes associated with puberty, though women can have problems with it around menstruation, as well. It's not all that uncommon, and it doesn't mean you're dirty or you ate too much chocolate--it's a hormonal imbalance that leads to too much oil that bacteria can infect.
Long-term, prescription options usually have stuff to dry up oil production and heavy-duty antibiotics.
But OTC stuff can help. Be sure if you use things like astringents that you put on an oil-free moisturizer afterward--your skin will flip out if you strip it completely dry. It will ramp up oil production to protect your skin from the harsh cleaning if you don't put on something soothing to calm it down. And be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen--sun is NOT your friend. Any skin damage can make acne worse, and many treatments make your skin really sun-sensitive.
You don't want a burn AND acne. Ugh. Acne's bad enough on its own.
Good luck--hope something works.
Edit: oh yeah, I forgot: you can make your own oil-blotting paper (rice paper is nice, but not necessary.)
Get tissue paper, the kind you wrap presents in. You can get it in colors or plain white (though don't get the metallic kind--I doubt it would work as well.)
Cut it in little pieces, about the size of a credit/business card. Press them against your skin (don't rub) and watch the grease transfer to the paper! Wheeee! Plus, if you don't rub, it won't smear any makeup or treatments you have on your skin.
That way, you don't have to use astringent or harsh cleaners and then moisturize again. Plus, no burn like with those moist acne wipes.
And it's cheep-cheep-cheep.
Liquid Oxygen is a great source of clearing up acne. I never really had bad acne, but I always had a few bumps that pop up a little bit before and while I am on my "aunt mary".
I have been using LO for about three weeks and I have really seen a huge difference in my face and the way my overall body feels. It will cost between $14.00 to $24.00 for a good bottle of LO, but trust me it is worth it. You can find LO at any health food store and it is best to get it from a Mom and Pops health food shop instead of GNC.
If that is not what you want the best advice I can give is...use a Loofah pad with "Basis" face wash. I have been using the Loofah with the "Basis" face wash for about six years and it is great to remove dirt and open your pores. I have noticed that you can only buy the "Basis" wash online at drugstore.com or you may be able to find something in your area.
I hope this helps.
Acne skin disease is very frequent in the world. The acne sufferers are from all races and genders. If you are looking for acne solutions, I recommend to go for ZENMED Derma Cleanse System. It is an internal cleansing treatment that goes right to the source and fights acne before it even begins.
I tried this product for about a month and to my surprise it really works. I've had skin problems (acne) since I was a teenager and I swear I've tried every product out there. I think I'm sticking with this one though!
My skin is clearer than it's ever been. I'd definitely recommend ZENMED Derma Cleanse
ESweetPea is right, and has some good advice...
It isn't easy to get rid of it very fast, thats true, but I can suggest one thing that has helped me.
Mineral Makeup.
Try SheerCover, found online, or Mineral Wear(from walmart)
It has actually helped let my skin get better by not clogging it like all the other makeups. It works WITH your oils and doesn't get that sticky pasty feeling. Also try using a lighly moisturizing soap. Don't try to dry out your skin, it will only make it work harder to reproduce the natural oils and create more. Good luck, I hope you're successful.

Questions about earaches?
Okay, theres no point for you to tell me to go to the doctor, my sister and I both had the same problem, she went and the doctor told her that she just has a common cold. Except that the only thing wrong is the earache, our noses aren't running, we aren't coughing, and we don't have a sore throat.
My biggest problem is that its made my face swollen on the side, as it did with my sister, and I can't close my mouth all the way, so I can't chew, it hurts. Not only that, my ear is closed up so I can't hear. It drained a little, like yellow-ish stuff...it hurts really bad too...Any advice?
Answer:
You need to see another doctor, one that will give you antibiotics. I had lots of ear infections when I was a kid. Never found a home remedy for the pain. Sorry, but go to the doctor and show them your ear!
This maybe an inter ear infections that result from lack of drainage that can develop after a cold has gone away, but the mucus settled in the ear canal or it can be harden ear wax. Go to dandesoap.com and use the contact us page. Tell them the problem. They made a lavender ear oil for me that costs less than $5 and mail it to me. I used three drops in the infected ear only up to twice per day and mines was gone in three days. My ear started draining on it's own and I haven't had a problem since. The ear oil wasn't on their website, so I set my problem to them via their contact page. I still have the oil and used it on my husband for swimmers ear last week. He got swimmers ear while on our vacation at the beach. Anyway, I'm sure that's the problem. Give it try.

Question??
Does anyone else dread it when you're at the doctors and she/he gets out the stethoscope? I do and it's always freezing, why is that?! why can't they warm it!
Answer:
What about when the put on the gloves??
its freezing because its metal in an airconditioned environment. Ask your doc to warm it up, they'll usually breath on it or hold it between their hands to ease the chill. XP
just ask them to my doctor holds it in her hands and warms it first
Some doctors warm the stethoscope in their hands but others don't. Regardless, it's far better than when they put on the rubber gloves.
I hate that. I thought I was the only one who was annoyed by that! It's a small world. It is always freezing. However, I noticed that my new doctory rubs his hand on it and warms it up first. The next time you go you should ask your doctor to do the same. :)
yah really it just about makes your heart stop when they touch you with that thing. it makes you want to breath mor shallow and the kepp jabbing it all around and asking you to breathe. Scarry.
He or she is working for you ask then to warm it first.
Does the cold stethoscope make you nervous or is it being at the doctor's office? I see a lot people have anxiety just being in the room, and anything that I do freaks them out.
Just like other people's advice, ask your doc to warm up the steth and ask him/her what s/he's listenting to. That can possible ease your mind...hopefully
No, I do not dread it...and I always warm my stethoscope with my hands when it is cold!

Who's with me!
(By the way, I look exeptionally pretty today)
Answer:

Question from my 10 year old son!?
He wants to know..if you pass wind when youre outside, can other people actally see it???
Answer:
MAYBE, if its a cold frosty day. hot air is visible in the cold! just think of your breath in winter
See it? Of course not unless someone lights it.
Should he be encouraged at 10?
Doesn't he wear trousers?
No - but they sometimes smell it. Do it and move away - fast!
They can definately smell it i know that for sure.
if its icy cold!!- ha ha
NO ,JUST SMELL IT
so if u drop 1 run so mum gets the blame.ha ha
Ha ha, only if its really cold out like when you get huffy breath!
No, they can't. It is like a ghost - invisible and creeps up at you when you least expect it. :)
They can certainly hear a big ripper, or smell a silent but violent..
All depends what it is you've eaten.. (may I recommend lots of baked beans, scrambled eggs, onions and curry to fart and make your mum's eyes water.. heheheh)
It can be seen in very very low temperatures or on an infra red or thermal imaging camera.
if you're a girl and wearing a light skirt, they might ... :P ... or maybe your sun sees smells as colours ... I do sometimes ...
they would if they were behind him with a cigarette it would go up in a puff of green smoke.
In really cold weather they might see some steam.. but I'm with the majority on this one - The smell's the problem :o)
no they can't wind is impossible to see
only if you think its wind you need pass and not a visit to the bathroom
Only if you follow through!
if it's cold yes
