2 weeks ago I came down with something that left me really sick. I couldn't get out of bed for at least 4 or 5 days. My symptoms were severe tonsilitus which consisted of severe inflamation and pain and white spots on my tonsils. I had a high fever, aches all over, and some diaheara and vomiting. Went to an ear, mouth, and throat doctor. Took a strep test and it came back negative, was most likely a virus. The doctor prescribed me clindomycin (antibiotic) and prednisone (sterioid for inflamation). I completely better after 7 days. Its been a little over two weeks now and my left tonsil seems a little inflamed again. No pain really, but i feel it when i swallow. I'm afraid it's all going to come back. the white spots are gone, but the feeling of a rough tonsil is back...Any ideas of what i have? thanks a lot. PS.I stopped taking the antibiotic when i felt better(wasnt bacteria), started again yesterday,
Answer:
You Should Always Finish Your Antibiotic...Even If You Are Feeling Fine. Your Body Needs The Full Dose. You Should Begin The Feel Better In A Few Days. This Happened To Me In March. Your Immune System Should Be Stronger Now To Fight Off Whats Left. If Your Symptoms Worsen Call You Doctor. Good Luck!
You should have kept taking the antibiotic even after you started feeling better. You may have caused some kind of resistance by stopping it before it was all gone. Your best bet would be to go back to the doctor. Keep an eye on it though because I ended up having 6 tonsil infections in a year and getting my tonsils out a month ago. Take care!
